The one time we want Joe to have the ball

Was Boeheim asked any questions about the closing lineup he put on the floor...with only one proven shooter? Bell is a freshman but it seems it would have helped to have him on the floor.

It's disheartening that they had two chances to win the game and botched both attempts.

Before Judah forced the pass to Jesse I was screaming no, no, no as he telegraphed it and seemed determined to get the ball to Jesse no matter what. That's just bad basketball instincts by Judah and inability to go off script. I was very surprised as he at times plays fearlessly and creatively.

Yeah not sure even Jessie recognized he was being doubled on that play, and since he was somebody was open. Got to give Pitt some credit on that one.

100%

That was bad, but at least it was an aggressive play.
Yeah. Got to make it, but that could have add 2 points plus energy. Worth the try. Seems to happen to little Gus who try to go big.

Jesse wasn’t being doubled.

Great observation. A fake pass to Jesse and Brown had a layup. That’s tough to ask two freshman.
Or just pass it to Brown and he probably scores. We played 3 on 5 on offense for a few years on offense, but we can actually put 5 guys in the game now who can catch the ball and make a play.

Brown was at the foul line elbow.

So wrong. It's the first X number of minutes of the first half that's the issue. How deep a hole should we dig before you expect miracles.
I understand what you’re saying but that’s not the point I’m making. My concern is that we’ve had multiple times where we needed to generate a good look (multiple times against St. John’s late, last 2 possessions against Pitt) and didn’t even get a shot off or relied on a prayer. It’s one thing to miss a good look - that’s basketball - but we have enough talent that we should feel confident in those opportunities.

Additionally, how many games has late game/clock execution killed us? Should we have been in that spot against Bryant, no - but should we have let their guard drive the length of the floor in 8 seconds and let up a 5 footer for the win? Absolutely not. How many game threads do we complain about letting up shots at the buzzer to end the first half? (Bryant once again)

He did the same thing against St. John’s and we ended up with a Symir contested fadeaway. A shot that not what you would draw up but one that Bell has a much higher probability of making.
