The only way to be in on Autry for 25-26 season

On a positive note, the first round games next year in the NCAA Tournament are held in Buffalo and Philadelphia. Wouldn’t it be nice to be talking about this next year?
We can certainly talk about the NCAAT first round games next year. It doesn’t mean we will be playing in it.

That would be punihing myself. If you don't care enough to stay during the bad times noone wants to hear how sweet the good times are when they return. I am a Red Sox fan and I have been since I first picked up a baseball. Age 6 or 7, Sixty years now. Believe me when I tell you I balled tears of happiness and tear up to this day when 2004 finally happened or is brought up now. I know true sports suffering and unparalleled joy in my fan experience. The last few years are a blip, and better days will be coming. Hope you stay but if you can't stomach this I feel bad for you.

Impossible to say who will start [IMO] before knowing the portal additions.

What we DO know is that there is going to be a lot of attrition this off-season. Five seniors graduate [McLeod, Lampkin, Davis, Taylor, and Carlos].

In addition to those five, we have several players with additional eligibility who may portal out. I'll add my opinion about the likelihood, based upon info that has been shared / what I've heard:
  • Bell [highly likely to bail]
  • Westry [highly likely to bail]
  • Moore [highly likely to bail]
  • Freeman [moderate likely to bail]
  • Cuffe [who knows]
  • JJ [who knows]
  • Petar [low likelihood]
I wonder why Moore and Westry would leave. Westry has been injured for two years. Does Red not want him? And why Moore? He’s also been injured, has gotten a good amount of playing time despite poor defensive play.

Westry is probably better off going to a lower level school to try and work his way back. At this point he hasn’t really played in 3 years. I don’t see it happening for him here.

Plenty of good D1 schools in Pennsylvania that are closer to home for him. Maybe a Bucknell or a Lehigh.

I don't think Westry is capable of playing high D1 basketball. He can stick around, especially with the expanded rosters, but I don't see a role for him.

As for Moore, it's more available minutes and expected role, he's nowhere ready for a starting role. Plus Kiyan is coming in who is another bench 2G. I'm OK with Moore staying, but he needs to be a much better shooter and defender to get minutes.

These threads multiply like Gremlins jumping in a swimming pool.

Sometimes I think we have more interest and activity when we're bad.
Really? Posts and traffic here are way, way down I would suspect. There's nothing to talk about except we're bad.

I'm sure the admins could verify.

I thought he said he's going to play two more years of college basketball ... I don't think he specified Syracuse.
In the PS newspaper interview, Cuffe said that he would like to remain at Syracuse for his remaining 2 years if his eligibility is approved which he thinks it will be since he has all the paperwork from Kansas and Cuse.

Cuffe also sounded like he realizes he is a backup guard and didn't seem like he wanted to transfer to a smaller or different school to get more playing time. Seemed like he is fine even being the 2nd guard off the bench too.

Apathy, that’s the big key word. The lack of feeling emotion or interest.

I seriously expect that entering 2025-2026 season, that collectively as a whole this will be the most apathetic Syracuse basketball fanbase has ever been in the last 40-50 years.

That’s a big risk the university is taking, but hey, not my money.

Short of donating NIL what else can we do that feels cathartic? Attending games in person certainly doesn't qualify as therapy.

Many have spoken of really taking ownership of their leaf raking and snow blowing.

Idle hands is the Devil's work as they say...

We might lose like 10 guys from this years team… i find it very unlikely that we will have enough money to backfill all of these guys.

We'll have to see what happens with the portal, but yes, this was always going to be a possibility with a poorly-performing, lame duck coach going into year 3... struggling to keep guys you want to keep and prevent them from jumping to the portal.

One thing for sure... if there isn't enough money to go around, they really shouldn't have sent JAB out last month saying there will be enough money.

That’s why I think it would benefit us to bring back some guys like Westry (maybe he’ll finally stay healthy), Starling and/or Moore

Yeah I'd be fine with Moore and Cuffe and maybe Westry as bench guys

It gets depressing realizing how far we've slipped.
