The Penn St Dumpster Fire Thread

I feel like Vtech should call Franklin. He could get them back to respectability.
Yeah he could definitely rebuild that program. May hurt us a bit in recruiting if he could lock down the DMV, we’ve been making good progress there. But this actually makes a lot of sense and he would be a great fit if he wants to continue coaching. He would need to change his ways though. What you saw at the end was a stale product at Penn State.

I think that will really hurt him BUT some P4 school will take a chance on him.
He has one at two schools, one being Vandy which is tought.

Fran has amazing support from the boosters who support the program. They are all amazing individuals, and they support Fran at a level i have never seen before at Syracuse. Boosters are not going to be the problem if Fran leaves. The administration needs to finally realize that football truly does drive the bus, not just say it but own it. If Fran leaves take a hard look under the hood at the allocation of the 20.3 million between sports and there will lie the answer. In short Basketball needs to step up their NIL and support game, hold their own weight does not take away from Football. Trust me on this. Also, there is plenty of money to support Fran and his staff. All things being equal Fran will stay and i believe we can pay him an amount close to 8 or 9 M if needed. It's the 20.3 that could be the issue.
Basketball is only getting like 4 million from the House settlement. The rest is going to football. Pretty close to the same as every other school.

How is Fran still #3 on this list. Is there a way to short that bet. (He wishfully thinks.)
Fran is a great candidate for this job and I expect him to be one of the finalists. He is a jersey guy and this is a jersey football dream job. He may never get another shot at Penn St. in his life so I'm very concerned we will lose him. Other than Cignetti, we all know that Fran Brown is the best coach on that list. So don't delude yourself into thinking we won't lose him. Its going to be long few months as this plays out. Certainly, we are at risk.

They’re going to have to go pretty far down their list to look at a 13-6 second year ACC coach.

Let me put your mind at ease.. IT WILL NOT BE FRAN BROWN AT PENN ST!! The only school we should worry about is Buttgers!!!

I guess we have to worry that Fran will decide he does not want to win championships after all. Rutgers is not getting past Penn State, much less Ohio State, Oregon, Michigan, and USC. And that's not counting Washington, UCLA, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Iowa. Meanwhile, Indiana and Illinois are better than half of those teams the past 2 years, with Indiana perhaps the best team in the B1G this year.

Maryland, Rutgers, Purdue, NW, MSU, and Minnesota seem to be a clear Tier 3. Indiana's donor base finally woke up to get them out of this tier. Does Rutgers have that ability???

Your right on all of that and it would be a perfect landing spot for him, however Vtechs last coach Pry, was Franklins DC at PSU. They may want to avoid PSU/Franklin entirely this time around.

What's also crazy is we are early in the carousel with Wisconsin, Florida and maybe Florida St and Auburn having openings too
