Reading various sites, it appears many PedSt fans are calling the ticket office asking for refunds on their season tix and donations. It is just the internet and could be all bluster, but I am sure there will be some that do that.

Speaking of PedSt fans and rats, I'd highly recommend NOT reading any of their message boards. It's absurd, the level of denial, and the fact that they just don't get it.

Also, one person posted saying "Emmert is a Syracuse grad? Bet the NCAA won't have a presser for them."

Mindboggling. They really just do not get it.

I know plenty of folks who will scoop up those tickets.

THose may not be the "Rats." They may be the folks who have decided that PSU is too corrupt to support.

I don't want to generalize and suggest that this level of idiocy / denial represents all PSU fans, alums, etc.

But honestly, this type of sentiment is EXACTLY why the NCAA needed to drop the hammer. You have a bunch of imbeciles out there bemoaning the fact that JoePa is the real victim in this situation as opposed to decades worth of children who were sexually abused.

That this segment of the PSU fanbase continues not to see the big picture is why the death penalty discussion was warranted, and why I feel that these sanctions might not have gone far enough, frankly.

i see attendence going through the roof.

the penalties are over with, now its about supporting the kids who stayed and continue to come.

theyve fingered the guilty, theyve cleansed themselves of the stink, and now its all about being penn st.

they really needed to take away more schollys and for a longer period of time, at least 7 years.

I wasw just using the saying. But the ones saying they will do that are not doing it because PedSt is corrupt. They say they are doing it because Erickson and the BOT signed off on the NCAA santions. They are also calling for the heads of the full boad and Erickson.

Just like on many message boards, the people writing are not necessarily reflective of the community as a whole. There's gonna be a big divide between the Paterno Uber Alles crowd and those who recognize the need for major change. The Paterno Uber Alles crowd are the ones who drive their RV's hundreds of miles on autumn Saturdays to Happy Valley.

To me, it's far from certain that they'll keep coming. To the extent that they remain in denial and hate on anything that minimizes the Gospel According to St. Joe, they may well stay away in droves. I'm sure there are lots of students who, both currently and going forward, will welcome a rejiggering of the emphasis away from an all-controlling football program.

I know that a lot of people think that the stadium will continue to be packed. I don't think so. And, it'll get worse year after year. Arguments about 'supporting the kids who stayed' notwithstanding, people don't want to watch crappy football, especially since they've never had to watch crappy football.

That's the thing I keep coming away with also. They have no idea what this is about.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Listening to SIRIUS/XM College radio today the vast majority of PSU fans weren't shocked or all that upset with the fine and the sanctions. They are stomping mad at taking away JoePa's win record which I found amazing.

They aren't upset the team will suck for the next 4-10 years, they are more upset about JoePa's record being no more.

Agreed, and my guess is that the crowd that feels like these sanctions are warranted aren't going to spend much time on boards getting screamed at by the other side.

I've said for a while that if for some bizarre reason the Fine saga turned out to show a similar institutional catastrophe I'd be all in favor of gutting our hoops program. But I doubt I'd spend much time around here defending that point of view.

Agree 100%.
