Honestly as long as hey finish top 4 it really doesn't matter except for he color of their jersey.

However, putting Florida State at 4 sends he chilling effect that margin of victory and game control matter more than just winning games. You play to win the game not dominate the game. The committee may not like the ACC like the SEC or PAC-12 but FSU has played 11 of 12 games against P5 competition and yet because all they do is win they dinged. If Syracuse magically went undefeated they would barely be top 4 if all they did was win and not dominate.

I get FSU hasn't looked great and could have lost 5 games but Bama barely beat LSU/Arkansas/Miss state and trailed Auburn a great deal and they don't get scrutinized like FSU.

It is bad precedent.

How you play matters...of the 4 teams currently in the playoff I don't have a prob with fsu being 4. They've looked the shakiest. Although none of this probably matters because none of the 3 are beating bama

The rules for judging Alabama are different. It's garbage.

FSU actually has db's who can stay with Amari Cooper. I absolutely give FSU a shot to beat Bama.
maybe. But I don't see them being able to stop their backs at all. Or move it against Bamas front 7. That second half beating bama put on auburn Saturday was unreal

Choosing the best 4 teams is much more art than science. If you get into the 4, just go with it and prove you deserved to be there by winning it all.

That's why I mentioned Cooper. That game is Auburn's if not for them having no clue how to stop him. He turned that game around once Bama figured out noone on Auburn can guard him.

I also just have a feeling FSU has another gear they haven't shown much until they've needed to.

There is noting more difficult in any kind of competition than repeating as a National Champion . To go undefeated 2 years in a row , well , that speaks for itself. FSU has as much talent as any team , including Alabama. This is how the committee wants to start this whole thing out , ALL POLITICS!

What it comes down to for me is can FSU beat Alabama? I just can't see it.

Why do people keep mentioning their the defending national champs? Last year shouldn't have any bearing on this one. At all.

seems to me that all the committee has done is rank the top 5 in order of the perceived quality of the conferences this year.

1. SEC / Bama
2. PAC12 / Oregon
3. Big12 / TCU
4. ACC / FSU
5. Big10 / OSU

This also magically creates a more geographically diverse national championship game if they keep it as currently ranked so you can't have just two teams from the southeast playing in the finals. (pretty sneaky)

Then the SEC's past success shouldn't either...but it does.

In terms of who goes to the playoff? No it shouldn't. But Alabama has looked better playing in a better conference this year than the ACC.

Right. Being the DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION is no added pressure at all.

In most cases, no it doesn't but in terms of being the undefeated for 2 years defending National Champs, yea it does. They are the biggest lightning rod team in sports.

That's your opinion and I respect that. I look at teams in the SEC and if they actually played more OOC games vs P5's I'd be willing to concede but most schools avoid doing so like the plague. LSU, Georgia and Auburn had very good (Wisconsin/Clemson w/ Stout starting/KSate) OOC wins and Bama had a decent one over WV. Granted the ACC only plays 8 conference games like the SEC but the SEC schools played the least P5 schools OOC out of the whole P5.

Honest question: Do you really think the ACC is better than the SEC?

Actually , Going undefeated after winning the NC last year shows this teams one of the Greatest teams of all-time. They should be getting EVERY 1st place vote.

Why? Because they're squeaking out wins in a relatively weak ACC? Will they still be one of the greatest if they lose to GT? PRESSURE!

I don't think so much margin of victory. I think it's the eyeball test, and I don't have a problem with that. I can't watch FSU this year and honestly say they're playing as well as Alabama has of late. I think they deserve to be in the playoff, assuming they beat GaTech, but I have no problem with them dropping to number 4. That'll be the good thing about the playoff. We'll get to see it settled on the field.

When I watch FSU I notice like everyone else how inconsistent their offense is until the second half. On defense they just aren't dominant like they were last year, but neither is anyone else.

That is how teams that won a championship the year before play , they don't have the fire to stomp teams , until the playoffs start. Anyone who follows sports has seen this before.
