I live in CT, he probably has more power than the Governor. How else could he act so churlishly and keep his job.
Should maybe look at Geno, Lady Huskies play anyone anywhere. Similar to Izzo. These MTE tournaments pay pretty decently, no?
I would think UCONN needs program money like everyone else and spazzo will play where the AD says he has to play.
I'd be surprised if he has the power to veto that, but maybe he does??
He didn't just miss them. That was a bad a couple of bricks as I have ever seen in that type of situation. And you are right. Gift call.Horrible call on Nova guy who blocked Yukon player, however he missed both FT's.
UCONN was bailed out 6 times the last 40 seconds...I had them ML +100...Hurley will go full Bobby Knight on those kids...They didn't value the possession, and it was kind of pathetic watching them punt and turnover the whole game,Nova up by 1.
UConn bailed out by phantom foul with 3 seconds left.
UConn bricks both FT's.
refs tried their best to give storz the WNova up by 1.

On the jump ball they didn't grant the Nova kid the TO he was calling. It was under :20 so they ruled a possession change and the shot clock turned off. If there was a possession change then you should have granted the TO instead of calling the jump ball.UCONN was bailed out 6 times the last 40 seconds...I had them ML +100...Hurley will go full Bobby Knight on those kids...They didn't value the possession, and it was kind of pathetic watching them punt and turnover the whole game,
They won eight games in a row including #15 Baylor, at Texas and #8 Gonzaga. How did UConn shoot all the way back up to #9 after losing all 3 games in Maui?
Also, in hindsight, it might’ve been the biggest blessing in disguise for UConn to be left out of conference realignment. Not to say we shouldn’t have made the move, we did what we had to do and there was a moment where besides the women’s basketball program it was a miserable time for the UConn athletic department. But once they decided the American was not worth it anymore, the investment in men’s basketball has gone incredibly well for them. Now you’re seeing momentum in their football program and they seem on there way to getting into a power conference. A tough decade for their athletic department still produced 3 national championships in Men’s basketball is wild stuff.I HATE Uconn.. but I give respect where it's due, the one time Big East dormat has turned itself into a college basketball Blue blood in just around 40 years and our beloved orange is sinking like a rock.. That being said red or whoever is coaching next year better get a hell of a better team in here for next year or Hurly and the boys will win by 30+..
Agreed.. Also The fact is the Uconn administration didn't sit and hope Kevin Ollie could find traction with his own players for 3-4 years they let him go once they saw the attendance dropping both at gampel and at the Hartford civic center. It was a great move hiring Hurly it saved their hoops program. Also, in hindsight, it might’ve been the biggest blessing in disguise for UConn to be left out of conference realignment. Well that would do it. Shows how checked out I am with college hoops this year. No idea who’s even in the top 10 these days. They won eight games in a row including #15 Baylor, at Texas and #8 Gonzaga.
This is the biggest reason for their new success. They were going nowhere in the American Conference.Getting back to the Big East also saved their program.

Don't they cover it with non-AD income and also State money. The UConn athletic department lost $53MM in 2022. They "turned it around" in 2023...and only lost $30MM. They still have no pathway to financial viability. They've done a great job winning championships while bleeding to death...but they are still bleeding to death.
I don't think we're in a great spot right now for the long term, but still would not change places with UConn.
