The Welch Thing...

Devito won't throw balls into tight coverage, he is scared of an interception hurting his stats and that last throw away made Dino lose it.
Ah yes. Clearly he is a stat padder. He hasn’t thrown and tight coverage balls at all this year

After the game, Babers explained his decision to pull starting quarterback Tommy DeVito on the final play of the prior possession. DeVito suffered an injury in the first half and was limited in what he could do, Babers said. Mobility, specifically, was something that DeVito said he lacked -- and that was clear postgame as the redshirt sophomore hobbled down the locker room hallway and up a flight of stairs with an ice pack on his right knee.

“He was taking some hits and he wasn’t 100 percent out there,” Babers said of DeVito. “I didn’t want him to be trying to do certain things when he wasn’t full go. We needed the quarterback’s legs. We wanted to do some things in the run game. And the throws that we had to make, Clayton could make them. Tommy did enough so we took him out.”

“As a competitor, you want to be on the field helping your teammates,” said DeVito. “But if you can’t give your all, 100 percent, then they need to put in someone who can.”

DeVito described the injury as being “bruised up,” though it’s unclear exactly when it occurred.
This is total bs. There was nothing about the third down play that was a final straw about injury. Media can't let this slide, even if babers does the serial killer eyes act, who cares.

maybe but he made it that long, why not one more play.

Welch throws like he has legs for arms.

Someone asked upthread but did Welch throw any warm ups? You’d think if DeVito was that banged up Dino would have had Welch ready to go in.

Like I said earlier, if Dino says TD was hurt then I’ll play along. However, it doesn’t speak well to staff prep that Welch came in when, and how, he did. And the play calling with him in the game was awful

yes, he's trying to rid his team of the guy with 20 TDs and 5 INTs as a sophomore.

Exactly what Dino is doing.

Some of you need to use common sense.
Relax man. Lots of people are bitter after a loss.. it’s just a conspiracy theory..

When Welch came in on 4th down, I think Dino wanted to run a QB draw. He called that play all last year and this year too. I just think Clayton knew he was going to get stuffed if he ran, that's why he suddenly threw that off balance pass.

I don't think Dino wants to tell us the play call, because of either criticism or he doesn't want other coaches to know as they'll look for it in the future. Of course, opposing coaches know this, but Dino has that coaches paranoia.

I also believe the injury and frustration had to do with the pulling as well, probably a mix of the 3.

Devito has been atrocious on forth down this year. Small sample but it's a fact

I think a lot of that is because of OL struggles and the fact that TD struggles big time moving and throwing the football.

So everyone is lying about it?
Why was it pulled and what proof do you have to your point?
When Taj was pulled for his hissy fit the same excuse was used by Dino in his post game press C. My two cents is TD wasn't pulled because he was hurt. If he plays next week that should give us the answer.

Has Tommy come out yet and said he was hurt?

Again none of us are on the sideline or in the huddle. Dino made the call to pull Tommy. Personally i dont know why. What im guessing is that it wasn't because he was hurt. For Gosh sakes Dino started TD when he was really hurt. Who knows either way it doesn't matter. What matters is that Dino makes the required changes to his staff and his management of his team so that this doesn't happen again.

Tommy wasn't getting treatment on the sidelines he was standing right next to Dino.
There's no point in giving treatment during the game if you already know he can't be made well enough to go back in.

Its been clear as day that Tommy’s had significant rib/additional injuries since the Clemson game.

i don’t necessarily agree with taking him out on that play, but if Dino was worried for his well being (who knows if that was the case) then it was a tough decision.

Tommy’s a tough sob if nothing else. Say what you will but I find the narrative that he’s mentally weak/selfish completely unfounded.

One of the strangest things I've ever seen in a game and I'm a bills fan
The Flutie benching was smoother.

Dino wants Devito gone, it’s the only conclusion I keep coming to.

We scored over 30 points on the road and almost got blow out.

Grind your axes with our PATHETIC db’s.

seen enough of 8 and 9

They were giving up 38.7 ppg in ACC play going into the game. We scored less than that. The O was a problem too.

You need to learn the difference between stating a fact, and stating an opinion. You post opinions as if they were facts. Then you come in later saying it was just your "two cents".

"He wasn't pulled because he was hurt" vs. "I don't think/believe he was pulled because he was hurt". World of difference there, and would have saved a lot of back and forth.
