there were some bright spots

Fanbase turns on him.
Had a bad game.
Offense could not get going.
Blitzed relentlessly.

0 interceptions, 0 fumbles. 29 of 39 for 300 yards and a TD.

accumulator or not, its impossible not to see a silver lining once he can take his skills and develop a better feel for the college game

I think he's going to have a better game against Pitt. Much better.

But no one would look at that stat line and think we only had 10 points (13 if we make the other FG). So it shows why stats can be completely misleading. He should have had 50 pass attempts at least.

Not all on him though. No run game, penalties all over the place.

Yeah, there are some plays I wish he'd make, but that said, he's the entire offense.

Lets keep the ball rolling

Harper’s making me feel a little better about Black and Ruff departing. He’s quick to the qb though missed an addtional sack or two last night.

Berry continues to play well.

Coley had some missed tackles last night BUT I think he’s the hard hitting safety and play maker we deserve alongside a ballhawk like Cisco. They’d complement each other well.

Kingsley Jonathan played really really well last night. He’s going to be very good next year.

jonathan is ALWAYS in the backfield it seems, unless he’s coming across the line to hit a runner.

kids a stud imo

I think I saw berry on a few pass rushes flushing them out of the pocket. He is a junior right?

I stand corrected on a couple of things. First it was 3rd and 8, not 7. 2nd, we did not have an empty backfield. We're in a straight 1 RB set with no TE. It's T, G, C, G, T. The RB is actually laying on the ground at the top because he completely and utterly whiffed his block on the top most guy who's running free. The RB is Moe Neal and it was an unbelievable lack of effort on his part. In the frame the guy it appears he missed is not actually the guy he missed. It's the kid closest to DeVito. As a coach, my head would have exploded over that.

The guy in the center of the frame with no one to block is actually the guard D Davis. For some reason he blocks down and he appears to be wrong. It forces the Tackle to block down leaving 2 guys free on that side and because Moe missed his block. Regardless of the OL here, imo the play completely blew up because Moe missed his block.

The play itself is clearly a called slant (which happens to be a little crossing pattern), DeVito is staring right at it and does not pull the trigger. EVEN with the breakdowns noted above TD still has ample time to make the throw and does not. (the play is at the 10:40 mark of the 3rd Q if anyone wants to take a look) I can't post screen shots because youtube tv must have some logic embedded as it blacks out the screenshot.

...and the play before on 2nd and 8 DeVito gets flushed out of the pocket and has to throw it away because Servais got beat like a drum and pushed back 10 yards. There just so much blame to go around right now, it's a complete mess.
What I would really like to see here is awareness and use motion to flare the RB out to the flat on the right.. The blitz comes .. huge gain to RB as there is no one there... and more importantly it makes the D coordinator feel like he cant blitz and leave his guys on an island Blitzing from the outside catch them twice and at this level you wont see the off edge blitzer again for at least a QTR maybe the whole game.. remember ND with shafers D a couple of years ago.. we blitzed relentlessly and I remember Kiser looking visibly shaken on the sideline... Kelly calls him over and what did they do from mid 1st QTR on? threw the RB flat play to whichever side was blitzing all night.. ofcourse our D did not adjust and they made it look easy and took us apart after a strong 1st quarter with easy flares to the RB all game... We have to start DICTATING to the D what they are going to run not allowing them to dictate to us.. it will make it much easier for our play calling.. right now maybe 50% of the time.. especially in the 1st half of games.. it feels like we are guessing..alot

Yeah him and Coleman and I couldn’t tell which one was in cause they play same way. Great run stuffers.

See I saw it completely different. He makes a great play then overruns fits 3x in a row. Way to slow to sideline for that zone bend they run. Can’t get off a block to save his life and again I’m not sure if ward even teaches different techniques or not so may not be on army totally. Play Richards for a bit and see.
I'm absolutely baffled at the linebacker situation. I would have Richards at the M, William's at W, and Army at S in 4-3 sets.

I completely agree. Driving me nuts.
