This football team has quit on Fran Brown .

And it was all show for Fran. He knew it would get picked up. Interesting that there have been no Fran Moments in the midst of the debacle. He stopped trying and as a season ticket holder I'm offended by that. I never want to hear Fran, Wildhack or anyone else call out the fan base ever again. Fran and the staff quit on the season. No one should ever forget that

I am starting to wonder if being a STH is even worth it. If one were to buy similar tickets on the secondary market would you actually save money? Getting a ticket isn’t all that hard.

I think next year I am going to record prices in a few sections after Fran’s Monday presser. Then compare it to the price of a season ticket. My guess is it is cheaper to not have seasons.

It is great that prices are going up without knowing who we play nor how many games we have next year. Especially after this season.

BTW 32,457 announced yesterday. Was it even half that?

STH lost their seats in the reseating. Then lost their parking. Now prices are going up. Making it harder to be a STH

That's a great point, and I'm interested in seeing your data when it's done. I enjoy my physical location (wider seats and armrests) and the people around me. Near the aisle. I wouldn't enjoy hopping around. But, man, the product on the field HAS to be better.

I liken it to this. I used to be on Twitter. When I finally got tired of the toxicity, I deleted it. I'm much happier. I hope it doesn't reach that point for my season tickets, but who knows? Maybe someday I will be happier not going up every game. I'm nowhere near that point yet.

Fran needs to focus way more on the portal than on a zillion freshman. Need proven performance. Most freshman are a crap shoot and need a year or two to marinate anyways.

Only benefit for my group is keeping our parking spot for tailgating. If it wasn’t for that we’d probably buy single game tickets for the games we wanted to attend.

You can't buy success, you need to earn it, you need to want to earn it. I don't see any want in sight just effortless capitulation. Been involved since 1954 and this was the most disgusting season since then.
IMO you absolutely can buy success! Its called NIL! And its harder to reach when competing the big time programs. And then there is the transfer portal. Hard to build program when losing players that get offered more money and keep jumping ship. Its become predictable every year what teams will be successful, always the same programs at the top, the ones that can pay!

My seats have no one behind me. So it would take a lot for me to give them up. But if I had different seats I would have to seriously consider giving them up.

If I were not a STH I would not have gone to Colgate and BC this year. Most years I would not go to the FCS game. The years we have 3 home games in a row I would likely miss one. If I use the same budget, that saves me about $200 per game (ticket, gas, parking, food, beverage) that can be spread out over the other home games to buy singles. Outside of Duke (Parent's weekend) was there a game you couldn't get under face value on the secondary market?

I believe that if you are a donor you can get parking without seasons?

Lmao 32k. That’s funny.

Are we really getting the good kids out of the portal though?

Fran has done great with the QBs. We have hit with the kids who our coaches were with at their old jobs. But the kids in the portal that they had no relationship with have been largely disappointing the last 2 years. Is that from poor evaluation? Or is that all we can pull? We have had mainly portal busts.

Going to keep asking, How many guys do you think we keep from this years squad? Maybe 15-20? I can almost count them on 2 hands.

Stevie/Yasin/Samuel/AD/Woody/Gill/Bryant?

That's out of 105 guys. So you got 30 freshman now + 20 returning. He's looking for 50+from the portal. Ain't going to be cheap. Both lines and depth for them, multiple backup QB's, and then you gotta pay Steve real bucks and a 5 star coming in.

Portal recruiting > HS recruiting, unless your job is safe. Is Fran’s job safe anymore?

Good point. But the majority of those portal additions were not top shelf performers. Several didn't even start at their programs. Angeli the obvious exception.

This season proves that an adequate backup QB is 1000% essential.

We had a good plan going into the season, but when Rikki didnt work out everything went bust. Should not have been too big a surprise since he had no track record coming in. We have a couple of young guys that may or may not develop behind Angeli, assuming he returns healthy. Any proven really good portal QB will want a legit shot at starting, so unless Steve has a health setback we may not attract any at that level, but we certainly should be able to get a guy who has proven it at a lower D1 school and wants a shot at a higher level.

This season has proven college football requires a plus QB for winning seasons. End of story.

As for the D, so hard to evaluate. Sometimes just awful, other times they played well but appeared to get worn down because our terrible O kept putting them back on the field until they broke.

As for Fran, for me the jury is out, but I am in his corner for now. Two seasons, one he struck gold at QB and won, the other he found the right guy at QB and we were off and running until that guy got hurt, then total collapse without an adequate backup.

Pretty clearly Fran has upgraded the recruiting. He deserves another season in which we get adequate to good QB play to see how well he can coach without the once in a generation QB (McCord).

We aren't going to get the top performers though. We will go shopping in the portal knowing that we cannot afford the name brands and have to settle for the Chinese knockoffs and pay tariffs on top of it.

We are looking mainly at kids who were recruited over at big programs or started at G6/FCS programs. That isn't the cream of the crop.

Maybe we can get a few impact players, but mainly we are getting depth. The problem is we need basically an entire starting defense.

Which is why we are screwed. Low budget equates to sub standard recruiting, middling portal editions, mediocre coaching staff.

Miss the Big East days so badly

I'll pose a question. Clemson with all their elite talent and Dabo college HoF coaching experience was projected to win 11 games this year by everyone. I think most of our fanbase said 7 wins was about where we would land.

So both our teams finished 4 wins less than expected. I also like to watch what Coach Prime is doing and they seem to be following the same coaching trajectory. Both our teams finished ranked last year and then we had the same record this year, basically hot garbage. Also throw in Florida St with their endless NIL and money being thrown at college football with nothing to show for it.

Obviously people are just more vocal and emotional because the historical and uncompetitive ways we loss. I still believe that's just coaching style. Fran just benches players that don't perform both on and off the field. So when you start getting to 3 or 4 or 5th string guys it's going to get ugly. This is the portal era, when a kid gets benched they know they're on to their next stop. That's how Fran sold them in the first place, he said the best player will play and if you do DART you'll play. What Fran didn't see coming was what happens when you hit that critical mass of players that don't care. Basically Chernobyl.

I'm still watching the portal and for major coaching changes. 2 years in a row of this I'll say burn it down but for now let's see what he cooks up in the portal and with putting the coordinators in their place. I expect major demotions so they can learn from more experienced coaches.

I became concerned after he made the players run wind sprints after the UConn win. It's just not done at this level of football.

While that is true, Fran is trying to be unique.

Winners maybe would have responded in the way Fran wanted. Instead, maybe unbeknownst to Fran, he had a bunch of embarrassed quitters.

Fran needs to recruit more winners.

The administration needs to do some soul searching to figure how serious they are about D1 football. I want to see quality D1 football in Syracuse but when you’re starting walk-on QB’s, it doesn’t speak to a serious program. I just watched a one win team have a QB throw for well over two hundred years, while we couldn’t throw the ball more than five yards down field. I’ll be watching next year, but just really disappointed now. This isn’t about the losses, it’s about the how. I’ve seen higher quality D3 teams than what I saw in the dome yesterday.

Let’s not be so quick to throw HCFB under the bus…
