I used to be a 'casual' college basketball fan. That's not to say that I didn't bleed Orange - love my Orangemen. But what I cared about most were the wins, great/thrilling performances, bragging rights, etc.

After having been on the old board and now this one (yeah, I'm a heavy lurker), I am much smarter about the game of college bball. Truly. I appreciate the nuances of the game so much more, and it makes the games that much more fun to watch. I also understand the game so much better now and I see things in the games that never got my attention to before.

To be honest, I'm truly impressed with some of you posters and how well you grasp the game - its fantastic to learn from the lot of you.

I've said "Thanks" before, but for some reason it just really struck me tonight that I am such a better informed fan compared to when I first started watching SU Sports. So, to all the great, informed and knowledgeable posters - Thanks for making the game of college bball so much more enjoyable for me! :)

My sentiments exactly.

Now if we could just teach Jarhead something about the game...we've been trying for years!!! :)

Good post - lots of informed posters, lots of great posts - best sports forum I've participated in without a doubt.

Okay, can someone on this board explain to me why Pitt and Dixon feel so angry about losing to us? They feel they "should" have won. Why do they think they didn't? Do they feel it wasn't their fault? Thank you in advance for my continuing education. (Don't mean to hijack a thread but I posted this somewhere else and am not sure it will get noticed.)

Because in a game where pitt generates more free throw attempts they should never lose. When clutch and grab / moving screen style is allowed they think they are the 2nd coming. Also they think they are entitled to beating us because of their recent success in out building in the past decade. None of that matters though. Another early round upset. They aren't angry about that though. Par for the course.

It's the one modicum of success they can point to. If they can't tout beating us, what else do they have?

It was their fault. I think that's why they're mad. They blew it. All other things equal, they make a few free throws, they get a huge win on the road. I'd be mad.

Okay, I just started a thread about this so we don't hijack OP's thread, which is a very good topic indeed!
