Tim Lester was on Dave and Gomez this morning. They were obviously quizzing him about what changes were forthcoming. He made at least 2 references about getting the plays in quicker. There was a poster on this site who had heard a rumor about GMAC possibly freezing up while calling plays. It's likely I'm reading too much in to Lester's comments but maybe there is some truth there. It did seem like it took an awfully long time to get the plays in and ball snapped when we the goal was an up tempo offense.

He also referenced that it will be a challenge to run someone else's offense as opposed to his own. So you have to wonder if wholesale changes to the playbook will be coming in the offseason.

We were promised a up tempo offense. What we got was a no huddle that often snapped the ball with under 5 seconds on the play clock. Those two are drastically different. hopefully if he sticks with Mcdonalds system we see a true up tempo that has us firing quickly, specifically when we get past FSU. that may be a game where controlling the clock is important

Who knows if Lester will even be the OC next year. Probably tricky to put him back down to QB coach, but I doubt he was promised anything.

If I'm Shafer, I'm asking for more room in the budget to help make sure I have confidence in the next OC.

i'd love to know what his offense is

From what I understand, IF Lester is the guy next year, he did run his offenses out of the gun.

Also, Acosta ran a pretty high octane offense didn't he? Is Acosta the guy who's friends with the UCLA coach? They may make a good tag team.

I'd like to look into and discuss Lester's past history of O.

OK, after listening to all the press conferences, comments reading between the lines and also using what I have seen for 18 games. I'm going to bury my thesis statement right here.

McDonald. Can't read defenses.

Nah he needs glasses.

I'd love to find a guy like Fridge. Someone who was a successful OC. So good that it landed him a HC job. But maybe it didn't work out as HC so he has to go back to what he was great at.

That doesn't mean any single (or double sized) human rowing in that boat is acceptable. I don't want Charlie Weis taking the role. We'd never be able to get up in to that coaching booth.

I was stuck in a most of the day meeting (some of us have to work), but I just noticed you were talking about Fridge in another thread.

Open up the wallet.

I think Deleone is available.

He's coaching the flag football team at an old folk's home at this point, I assume.

He'd be running AAM and Morris out of the I with Long as the QB, a couple of options, a heavy dose of counters and traps, playing with Moore and Parris, and throwing Play Action Posts to Ishmael.

What would wrong with that?

Never made it to HC.

I assume he'd have to be terribly desperate for work.

Lester on the radio sounds like a he wants to move away from spread eventually but can't really do it right now with current roster. Wants to focus more on running the ball and controlling the line of scrimmage. Willing to run the ball or pass the 71 times depending on what defense gives him and how O Line can handle it.
