Today is Giving Day at SU

Nearly $25,000 raised for GMAC’s coaching fund. This appears to be ground level supporters. It’s gained more than $6000 in thirty minutes. People need to understand this isn’t used for NIL but it does support what Gerry feels is needed within the program. It’s also tax deductible where donations to NIL are not. If you donate to the university to help offset their revenue share, that is also tax deductible. Good job Orange fans! Keep it going…GO ORANGE!

No donation is too small. Do whatever you can to help the program. I dropped $500. Don’t tell my wife🤫
me too same amount across the board. You don't tell my wife I won't tell yours!

My wife had a doctors appointment and said she would pick us up lunch on her way back. I text her and said why don’t we find something at home? We just gave money to Gerry McNamara and Cuse hoops. I already probably saved 10% of my donation!

Doesn’t all this money just go towards the 20.5 million that the university is paying anyways, I know the head coaches funds are for separate things and I’m all for donating to that, especially for non revenue sports, but we really need to donate outside of SU to really make a difference in NIL. SU makes enough money, they can pay the 20.5 million on their own. I refuse to “donate” to their revenue sharing. Is there anything anyone knows about other than SUFootballNIL anymore or coming out to get more NIL money. I’m all in for football, but I know I would donate to other sports NIL as well if I knew how.

I'm of the view that a lot comes out in the wash if people give what they are able to in any capacity. Money is money. If they get what they need taken care of in one hand, they can push people that can give at a larger scale to the other bucket and vice versa.

Beyond impressive campaign going on! For Men's Basketball they are at over 200k dollars and counting (they are going to pass Women's Basketball really soon, impressive where they are at as well) and at 1,350 donors and counting in one day! Gerry could probably win the Mayor of Syracuse race extremely easily lol. Good thing they got the Head Coach contract signed.

Men's hoops just passed Women's hoops - $215K to $214K.

Not that it's a competition, but since you posted...

I've been very impressed with the donation amount for Gmac. I felt like this giving day is a little disingenuous. I would bet that 90% of the fans who donated thought they were donating directly to NIL for the team. However, the coaching fund money goes towards offsetting the university's costs so that they can give the maximum $4.5m for rev share. It is ridiculous that there is no way for the average fan to donate directly towards NIL. Today proved just how big the love for Gmac is and Bryan Blair needs to harness and begin changing this.
