Toledo Series

I am glad SU is sticking to its guns on this, As best I can determine, Notre Dame still thinks the 2026 Syracuse game is at Notre Dame. The fbschedules web site just changed things so that game is now listed at SU (in one place anyway).

Not a huge fan of playing Toledo. It’s one of the hardest MAC locations for SU fans in upstate NY to drive to. Toledo is one of the strongest schools in the conference. And I’m not really excited about visiting Toledo.

I would be much happier playing Buffalo, Akron, or Kent. And I would feel a lot better about things if this was a three game series with two in Syracuse.

That said, I understand we can’t offer a big guarantee like some of the other P5 schools can to,get buy games for MAC schools. Maybe we could offer to play these schools in basketball in the dome to help make a two for one series happen?
At least you get to watch the Orange.

As a side trip, from Toledo drop down to Dayton, spend a day or two at the U.S. Air Force Museum at Wright-Patterson AFB - it's FREE! It's worth a trip of its own. On the way back to CNY, stop for lunch in the Amish region - or take another day visiting the shops and restaurants (be prepared to eat, just like Italians and Greeks, they don't know the concept of small portions). Or reverse the order, regardless a good long weekend.

For the daring, spend a day in Cincy, if you like, it's a little over an hour from the Air Force Museum.

What happened to the ACC ban on G5 road games?

And we couldn’t get a 2 for 1?

I bet we waited too long and ran out of options. Why does this seem to happen so often?

If we are going to play a MAC road game I prefer Akron, Kent, UB, UMass which are all closer.

2026 is some schedule. Good home slate and 5 easy road trips. Which brings up the point, SU has to push to split BC/Pitt.

Also whose bright idea was to have a UConn road game the same year we play at BC and at Pitt?
Is Herm not sure if Wagner counts as a bowl eligible game still in charge of this?

In addition to Toledo, Notre Dame and New Hampshire are also visiting the Dome in the 2026 non-conference slate, as well as ACC foes Clemson, Cal, Louisville and SMU. The Orange will face UConn, North Carolina, Boston College, Virginia and Pitt on the road.
If SU was ever going to play its way into the playoffs 2026 is set up perfectly. Hardest games at home, manageable road schedule, but a good strength of schedule

Is Hangar 18 at WPAFB on the tour?

Why?

As others have laid out I do not like home & homes with G5.

A 2H 1A or a buy-game for just a home game in Syracuse would be much better.

Also -- it's toledo

Until this very moment, I never knew that the University of Akron and Kent State are only about 14 miles apart.

After this moment, I'm certain I won't remember it.

Plus Toledo fans will be still salty over the XP fiasco

Would I prefer a 2 for 1? Sure but Ohio is a solid HS FB state so it doesn't hurt to play there. Like Tomcat said a game against a MAC team within 5 hrs is better vs 7 hrs. Toledo is usually one of the better MAC teams so it might get a pretty good TV slot.

Choose one:

- Mr. Senator, I can neither confirm nor deny.
- Mr. Senator, I do not recall.
- Mr. Senator, you are aware that a response to your question may not be proffered in an open meeting. I will be happy to respond to your question ins a closed door session.

For those who are Roswell UFO fans, there is no Hangar 13 at Wright-Patterson AFB, at least when I was stationed there. Hangar 13 is rumored to be the storage facility for the Roswell UFO, the Martian(s), and Tesla's notes that are "missing".

I just looked this up, because I love this stuff.

Army wasn't fully scheduled out to 2026 when they made the move, so they didn't have a full slate of options.

For 2024 - The other schools they dropped were Wake (can't play - ACC), Dartmouth (can't play second FCS), UConn (already scheduled), UNLV (who we played), Rice and UMass... Given those options and what UNLV turned into, that seemed like the best call.

For 2026, they've canceled Buffalo (which actually would have made sense for us), Liberty (recent opponent with some negative political side drama), UMass (no thank you), Marshall and Coastal Carolina.

Plus, I have no idea what dates those teams had available.
IMO UB, Marshall, UMass were better choices. And with all the chaos at the time, you had a chance at 2 for 1s with the latter two.

Plus based on their bowl game they will be playing with an edge, chance of fight breaking out is high. Should be entertaining

For those complaining about the home and home. How many times do you really want to see play Toledo play at the Dome? Not to mention they tend to be sneaky good. Mix up the schedule. One day we need to avenge G-Rob's home loss to Akron.

Hey 15th anniversary next year of the infamous botched extra point that wasn’t a botched extra point game! Party time!
I felt so strange after that game. Like I'll take the win whenever we can get it, but how can you just not count a kick that objectively goes in? It wasn't like a PI call that could go either way -- a kick either goes in or it doesn't.

was at the TOLEDO game in 99? One of the refs drank beers with us in the parking lot. We got there early and I believe we had some folks from the old board join us... game ended early from an injury to a Toledo player that put a damper on the game. Game was in hand so they just called it off...

Ref drank beers before or after the game?

We went too. It was so long ago I think I remember golfing at a decent course either on campus or right by campus on Friday. It was a fun. Between me being in my twenties then, partying harder than I can now, and my memory sketchy now due to old age sinking in, the details are hit and miss, but I know we had a great time. ;)
