I'm not the one who usually bashes the refs but that was the worst reffed game I've seen in a while. The fact that those thugs only had 4 fouls in the second half is really all that needs to be said.

I think the best reason to go to the ACC is to get away from the crap ref's the BE has. Burr should not be allowed to ref games in any league, he is awful.

It's absolutely mind numbing to watch the slo mo replay and his hand is going up for the foul before the foul is even commited. I'll bet the kids in his neighborhood have a field day with him on doorbell night before Halloween. He probably hides in the bushes with his stripped shirt and whistle.

Would rather less fouls then more. I enjoyed the second half.

I have no issue with "letting them play" if the game isn't insanely rough. The second half was fine, I do think they messed up a bunch of fairly easy calls and most didn't end well for us.

We did get the one where Dion double-dribbled, but Gates with that wicked travel, a couple out of bounds that went against us were horrendous (it felt like they called every ball out off us today), etc...most of those were in the first half though.

Worse refed game you seen in a while? So your saying you missed the Marquette/Pitt and Notre Dame Games

Really? I actually was there and I think it was somewhat in our favor. I actually complimented Burr as he left the court. I know there was an out of bounds call that they totally blew and call a jump ball that gave it to us late.

Wow, I couldn't disagree any more. That might have been one of the best officiated games of the year. Minimal fouls is always a plus in my book.

Wasn't perfect but worst? No way. They let both teams play particularly in the 2nd 1/2. We should be thankful. If they'd had more fouls and put us on the line any earlier we might've lost the way Kris, CJ & Brandon threw bricks up there. I expect much better from those 3 guys. If you expect better from any officials you won't like the ACC refs any better. I gotta say, I think Scoop, Brandon and Dion are 3 of the more aggresive on ball defenders in the country sometimes. All 3 take chances with reaches which lead to breakouts frequently.

For the first time ever I thought it's nice to see Burr making his crappy calls against someone else.

2nd half wasn't as bad as the 1st. But to be fair it seemed like they missed calls on both sides (unlike the ND game)
Exactly what I saw, the 2nd half was actually called well. First half *not so much*

You guys need to get out more.. game was fine, refs let them play both sides, sure they missed a few calls, it happens. It's part of the game

I worked last night so I'm watching the game this morning. Just watched a sequence where Scoop saves the ball by throwing it off the foot of a Cincy player. Burr calls it off Scoop. Jimmy tells Burr what he thinks of that. A Cincy player then manhandles Keita. Foul on Keita. So, Burr with a good game? Not so much.

The officiating is so bad it's even noticable when we're winning. I rolled the DVR back at the 15:01 mark in the first half (5 minutes into the game). There was a call on Joseph for pushing in the back .. that simply didn't happen. Joseph had his arm resting on the back of a Cinci player that lunged forward for a rebound. But Joseph never pushed. Unfortunately, the ref' ASSUMED that the Cinci player was pushed (without actually seeing it). Pure fantasy. Naturally, there were a bunch of real pushes by Cinci players that went un-called.

Then we have the usual Burr eyesight problem with the missed out-of-bounds call (ball obviously went off the Cinci player's foot), and the 2 non-calls on the "Mudj" guy they brought in to hack in the second half. One was where he threw Rak to the deck (no call), the other was where JS went up to dunk -- Mudj (#13) was all over his arm for an obvious 'And-1' (no call).

There's more, starting with the out of bounds mess where the ref's didn't see it go off Dixon. It was inside 2 minutes so (if I'm correct about the rule) they could have checked the monitor -- but why bother. Just charge SU a timeout.

While I was playing with the DVR, I was also able to capture a photo of an ND player preparing to take a three against SU last Saturday:

The refs were very inconsistent last night but at least all the calls didn't all go against Syracuse. They just blew a lot of calls both ways, unlike other games where it "appeared" to all go against Syracuse.

The jump ball bailout call on the OB play was actually the right call. Hurt us though, because they took an alternating possession away from us.

I agree ... the incompetence is a lot less annoying if it's balanced. The ND game ... not so much.

I'll cut him some slack on that one. It was bang-bang, and it would have been very easy to get screened on that play by Scoop's body and other players in the corner.

The "Right" call? You mean, the 'other' right call, as opposed to calling it off Dixon? Or checking the monitor so that they could see that it clearly went off Dixon?

And we havn't even mentioned the dangerous play when a Cinci player undercut BT by shoving his left leg when he jumped up to score on a fast break.

It was the right call in the sense that they have to go to the arrow when no one saw the play in question.

But Burr was standing right there - no more than fifteen feet away from the play, looking right at it. And for some reason he couldn't make the call.

He needs to retire.

A great indicator of how terrible the officiating is is having Bilas and Raftery commentating the game. They show the replay and tell the audience flat out how terrible of a call it is/was. I LOVE, LOVEEEEE that cast with Sean McDoughna (sp?)

No doubt. Those guys are the best, and they have a funny tounge and cheek sideline going the whole broadcast.

Loved when Bilas said how much he hated the double foul on Keita and Gates. Watching the game live, I said one of those guys is going to get a foul real quick. (They were really going at it.) Burr calls the double foul about 3 seconds later. Bilas says he hates the call because it's impossible for "...both guys to foul each other at exactly the same time."
