If the bad tackling and poor positioning on defense, the inconsistent play calling, and the bad run blocking is happening in late year 2 or year 3, then we've got reason to be worried.

But for Year 1, there's too many variables - inherited players not being the best fit, relying on young players, not enough development time, washing out talented but difficult personalities, coaches still learning on the job, etc., to be too upset. Yet.

The issues have been all season long. So yes, we should be worried next season, especially on D where we lose our 4 best players.

Being 129th in ypc is never a good thing. There is zero excuse for this.

Being 128th in ypc D is never a good thing. Being further away from 16th in the ACC than 16th is from 4th is not a good thing.

It is amazing that we have 8 Ws when we have one of the worst rushing attacks in the nation and one of the worst run Ds in the nation. We get killed on the LOS. Neither side of the ball is all on the talent.

Lost 4 players who were part of the 2 deep, and basically had to go with 2 Freshman in Perry and Watson. I list Perry, because Dino wasted his freshman year as a blocking back.
I seem to be alone in thinking the DTs aren’t the problem, especially a year after the majority of the snaps were taken at the nose by a guy who was 5’10” 270 LB.

There are a few obvious staff changes that will happen, and then it really comes down to how much better are Fran and co in year 2 than year 1.

Assuming they adhere to DART they've learned a lot of great lessons, and applying them next season will be fun to watch.

Really? Care to elaborate?

To me the LB outside of Wax and Barron when he moved were bad. The 5 DB's didn't tackle well all year. Hopefully the youngsters win the starting jobs in the spring. The upperclassmen were bad.
The young players have size and speed, hopefully just need reps.

I mean keep in mind I have no sources or inside information, but it's probably pretty safe to say we'll have a new special teams coach next season.

8-3 first year head coach who was a HUGE gamble. Fran could have been horrendous, turns out he’s been pretty damn good and he could get a lot better. While he may need to tweak a few things he has laid the groundwork. That’s it. Onward and upward.

His hiring was one of the bigger gambles when hiring a head coach that I can rember. Like I said, could have been an Absolute disaster. There was always going to be a learning curve and some on job training

.

Weird game teams that are about to get their doors blown off and are overmatched don't typically hang in there and play as well as uconn did.

Sucks if you lost a lot of money on the spread otherwise 8-3 and stay hungry for Miami.

Agreed mora has done a nice job at UConn. Syracuse was favored by 10-11 points not 3o. Get the over it,

like if Syracuse played Rutgers what would the spread be? probably pretty damn close but Rutgers would probably be favored and people would complain if we won by 3.
