too much media this week!!!

I think it's great. Sometimes JB passes on opportunities to promote the program (when we have a player in the green room at the NBA draft, for example) so the fact that he's been everywhere is a good thing. And like others have said, it's not like he has a lot more to do stuck in a hotel room. Heck, being stuck is probably working in our favor here, it's easy for him to hop on a call or whatever.

This.

And - National Media JAB is the best JAB.

He's on his A game, and watching him bust on Dan Patrick (they are BFF's), Screamin A Smith, etc is always a delight.

i would be ok if it was just jb making the rounds, im just not crazy about watching buddy shooting the S with barstool guys talking about his 3 point celebrations. even stephen a said something like “ok buddy this is big time now youre on espn first take everyone is talking about you now the pressure is really on you, how will you respond?”. i dont need that in his head right now.

again i wish they would have waited till next week for this media blitz, a final 4 is deserving of it, sweet 16 is great but its not some huge milestone

Strike while the iron is hot, all this helps recruiting in the time COVID and wide open portals

plus look at the bench, not a whiff of jealousy or resentment

WHA??
Sure it is!! 52 out of 68 teams would kill to be where we are right now.

We may not get a final 4 week of media blitz, so I say - savor what they can, when they can!

The team has been in Win Or Go Home Mode now for the entire month of March.
I don't think a few more media slots here and there are gonna change Buddy's mindset or approach.

I understand what CG is saying but agree with this take. Hell at this rate, in 8 months there will be some causal fans that remember us winning the whole thing (assuming we don’t) because of this amount of exposure.

My wife is from Albuquerque, and followed the Lobos and college basketball in general with at least a general interest. When I met her in 1993, she thought Syracuse had like 5 national championships. Media coverage did that.

If Buddy can't handle the pressure of going on these shows then we deserve to lose.

I think he can.

So... a causal fan from New Mexico knowing about Cuse hoops due to media is... bad, somehow?

OK. If you say so.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that Buddy is mentally strong enough to handle it. Also if we lose Saturday we cant go on a media tour, this can benefit recruiting, invigorates alumni, and rewards the kid.

Im good with it

Ease up big fella! I didn't say it was bad.

I’m sure that’s why we missed so many shots. All the interviews.

from the barrage of interviews this week it was mentioned in just about every one of them that buddy has struggled with confidence. so much of this game is mental. who knows how all this added hype and pressure affected him tonite. he shot an air ball and wasnt close on a most of his shots, a couple of them wide open. and im sure houston saw him on every show this week too and wanted to shut him up.

Yes, I’m sure Houston wasn’t motivated for this game until they kept seeing Buddy on TV.

I’m also sure all the pressure on Buddy to win tonight came from being on TV, as opposed to - I don’t know - playing in the NCAA Tournament with a chance to reach the Elite 8.

All of the interviews with Buddy made the whole team suck. Pretty solid take.

I think CorduoryG has a point. I'm not sure if any of this really factored into the game BUT think about it. Houston got to see Boeheim and his son parade all around on tv the past week. It "might" have served sort of like bulletin board material where they were even more fueled to shut him down. Again, I don't know, but I don't think Corduory is too far off with his take either. Whatever. We made it to the sweet 16 so it was a fun ride.

I think the trade off is it probably grew the fan base. In 5 or 6 years we may hear recruits start talking about Buddy Buckets. Maybe sooner.

finally! bulletin board material is a real thing, whether people wanna admit it or not. maybe jerreau saw everyone kissing buddys butt this week and buddy talking about his 3 point celebrations and was like “you hear all this buddy boeheim talk? im gonna shut this motherf&)$;: down!”

but really my main issue was we made the sweet 16, not the final 4. someone called it a victory lap in the game thread, a sweet 16 doesnt warrant that. for oral roberts yes, not for syracuse. it just didnt sit well with me. too much too soon. but i guess im in the minority.

For making the sweet 16? I don't think many fall in love with that. Maybe we should recruit sister Jean. Imagine our fan base then, with buddy buckets and the sister.

absolutely not, gotta strike while the iron is hot. The exposure and publicity is immense, would you rather have another team take all the attention? Going on interviews is the result of something good happening. We need more of this and not less.

Yeah - if we had “waited” to do media, it never woulda happened at all.

Would much rather have had the buzz all week, than not.

What else were the media gonna talk about?

A bajillion year old coach takes his 3rd double-digit seed team to the Sweet Sixteen, all while his son becomes Jimmer2.0 and goes to plaid, earning the nickname Buddy Buckets.

It’s a BIG story.

or rather, it was, and now it’s over.

Part of the high-profile athlete experience is getting criticized for performance and learning to deal with it.

However, they also should be allowed to fully experience and appreciate the accolades whenever they come even if it is not at the ultimate finish line -- without crticism.

Buddy said, himself, that his shooting now is all "muscle memory." He's put up so many shots from all over the floor that he's not even thinking about the shots he's taking now, when he's in The Zone.

If you look at the shots he's been making lately, he is no longer 'thinking' his shots. It's like he's entered the Steph Curry realm of shooting.

That's why I don't think he's gonna have a bad shooting night the rest of the season. They can definitely slow him down by doubling him, but he's ready for it and will promptly get the ball to Marek.

We've got this...
That didn’t age well
