I made a post about Augmon, aka The Plastic Man, on the recruiting board, comparing Matthew Moyer's length and atheticism to him.

Slightly switching gears...

Best dunkERS of the last 25 years?

Hak
Stevie
CJ

Those are the three that immediately spring to mind. Who else would you put on that list?

I may or may not be using these ideas for publication...ahem...

This dunk by CJ should at least get a mention, just because of how awesome it was at the time of the game.

Not one dunk in particular, but the last few seconds of the National Semifinal vs Texas I remember us going off on a dunk spree to end the game. Two or three guys back-to-back just throwing down as the game was in hand. Memorable because it was a great ending to that game.

Damn the 88-89 team was great
Yep. Sherm, Stevie, Billy, Derrick, Matt Roe is a hell of a starting 5. And then you add in Johnson, Manning, Harried, and, of COURSE, the one and only Dave Siock coming off the bench?

2nd best - but most talented - SU squad of my lifetime

And one was Edelin with his first and last collegiate dunk.

Who was the first? I always thought the 88-89 team had the most talent
I barely remember the 88-89 team outside of ESPN Classic, but I will put the 09-10 team as the best SU team I've ever watched. Yes, even better (all-around) than the 02-03 team.

I guess I was unclear in my construction

1989 was top to bottom the most talented squad, and until 2010 I thought it was the best team we've ever put on the court. they're still the most talented, but 2010 is the best team.

Didn't Dave Johnson have a monster dunk on someone? I was young, but that seems to ring a bell.

Hak teabag, against ND, at Miami, against Alabama, and a couple against Mizzou.
Jonny Flynn kills Rosario
CJ against GTown in the BET

JB talks about a 360 dunk from the foul line DJ did in practice one day as the best dunk he's ever seen. But it was not in a game and there's no film of it.

CJ had a dunk in Hawaii or wherever the heck we were last year that reminded me of Hak's versus ND. It featured the whole, how the hell did his arm just extend out that far to put it down moment...

Hak vs. ND is tops for me too as well though.

Harris used to have some SPECTACULAR misses though.

G has had some pretty amazing misses as well.

I would rank those guys 1, 2 in top missers.

i remember conrad mcrae representing well for SU in the ncaa dunk off. was hakim warrick not invited or did he decline?

Hak and Stevie are great choices.
David Johnson was spectacular. He got way up in the air and did a lot of fancy stuff.
Conrad McRae was our best dunker at center ever. Vicious, hard as you can dunks. No style points, he dunked as though he would get an extra point for the hardness factor. Only KO came close to dunking as hard as Conrad.
Personally, I think Wes or John Wallace was a better dunker than CJ. They were a little better jumpers and maybe had a little more style.
I would include Red but he is outside of your 25 year window.

I had a file of Hakim dunk stills that I collected in 2008 to put on Facebook.
Still looking for the originals that were more hi-res.

I recall a viscous putback dunk by Luke Jackson vs. I believe Providence in 1994-95? where he jumped clean over two guys. It didn't actually count because he was called for over the back, and he literally was OVER the back.

Someone tell me they remember this too.

If you go outside of the 25 year window, Red was ridiculous, but I remember a Santifer dunk on Penn State that made me jump out of my seat. Not sure what year, maybe 83.

Don't sell Triche short - he was an extraordinary misser.

The best dunker on the hill was Red Bruin. Warrick was a close second. Tony would take off dribbling baseline and the whole crowd would start getting excited. The amazing thing would be that he would jump off both feet, dunk with both hands and almost stretch out horizontally. He had a few against DePaul that left me speechless.
Was it DePaul in a loss where Red dunked at the buzzer. I always said they should have checked the net hooks for his armpit hairs. His hand was that far down into the basket. Unfortunately no replays because they were on to the next game.
