Top SU dunks?

Slightly switching gears...

Best dunkERS of the last 25 years?

Hak
Stevie
CJ

Those are the three that immediately spring to mind. Who else would you put on that list?

I may or may not be using these ideas for publication...ahem...

Conrad Mcrae

Gotta weigh in on this thread. I've been watching for a long time...and for my money Hakim Warrick is by far the best dunker we've ever had. And its because he used it as a half court weapon. Lots of people can dunk in transition. But Hak would post you up, spin and then make you look absolutely silly. Best dunker while being guarded and there isn't another player in our history is even close IMHO. His youtube dunk reel is just flat out sick. Too many dunks to count. If you add up all the great dunks of everyone else, Hak can equal them by himself. Miami, ND, Teabag...there are two on back to back possessions @ Mizzouri that were sick post up dunks. The list is endless..

Now, having said that, there have been some great dunkers and dunks:

Stevie was great because he was 6-2 and he dunked like he was 6-8.
Dave Johnson probably has two of the greatest momentum changing dunks I've ever seen. both against Georgetown. One in the regular season, and one in the BET..and both were rebound one handers.
Red Bruin could sky, and he was doing things at a time when others just couldn't dunk like that.
They guy who always gets shortchanged in this discussion is DC. Derrick had two of the greatest coast to coast dunks ever. I can't find them on youtube anywhere because I think they were against BC and Providence, or something like that, but he grabbed the rebound, dribbled through traffic the length of the court and monster slammed it. It was jaw dropping. And when Derrick decided he was going to dunk...he dunked and it didn't matter how hard you hit him, he dunked...and 1.
Melo would have been right up there had he stayed 4 years, but he wasn't a great athlete.
The Flynn-Rosario dunk was the most testosterone filled dunk ever.
PHarris' against Nova to end the half at their place was vicious.
The McCroskey over Armstrong dunk was funny...only because it was a holy ...but were still down 40 moment.
CJFair's against Otto Porter might have given Orange fans the greatest emotional lift ever. Great statement to end the series.
There are others I'm sure...

Don't sell Triche short - he was an extraordinary misser.

We all remember a few of the incredible dunks that he made, but Flynn missed a lot of dunks too, where he tried to dunk on people in traffic.

My favorite DC dunk was at Georgetown, a little like the Jonny Flynn dunk. At the elbow, faced up, overpowered the guy down the lane and slammed it. It was downright frightening! Awesome that it was against Georgetown. At the three minute mark: YouTube Video

I've never seen that before. WOW. That was great. How flipping were those teams in transition?!?!?!

At the three minute mark:

Not sure if this is the same one I remember, but the Georgetown players DC slams on look like young Mourning and Mutombo.
DC had guard and SF skills in a PF's body, and could simply out-quick and out-manuever the bigger centers, as well as step out to 15-20 ft for the jumper.
He was ahead of his time in that regard and VERY underrated as a dunker. This one dunk is Top 3 in my book.

Conrad McNasty. That name doesn't come easy. His dunks were like a punch in the mouth. The set the tone and were demoralizing for the opposition. DC had this quality too. JW maybe in that company, but his were a bit prettier. The thing that got you about John's dunks was that smile afterward. Wallace modeled his flair a bit after McRae. They played together a year. Conrad just seemed to get his body horizontal after his dunks and then give an extra little yank as he let go of the rim for good measure. Opposing team knew they were in for a fight when he threw one in.

personal favorite.
I remember being in the student section next to this particularly desirable girl that I didn't know. With a little over 3 minutes left we looked doomed and I said to her when we win this game I'm taking her back to her place to celebrate she laughed at the time. When MCW made that play she told me she'd reward me in a variety of ways for my confidence.

Needless to say I was pretty damn happy he did that for a variety of reasons.

You dog

Everytime I watch it, I try to pretend I don't know what's coming so I can relive the utter surprise and awe.

Johnny Flynn should also get a mention for his dunk on Rosario.
Yes the Flynn dunk on Rosario was awesome as well.

ESPN had a countdown of top dunks if all time in the NCAA. The Texas Teabag was #4.

For some reason I can't add the link from my phone.

That's just a great story. Or as folks on this board will sometimes say, "Pix, or it didn't happen!"
