Tournament Resumes YTD / Selection Show

The OSU win knocked SU to 7 and Duke to 6. Our SOS is now 3 (JHU!!! is now 2 because...math). Our line is now 0-2 vs. top 5, 2-2 vs. 6-10, 4-1 vs. 11-20, and 4-0 vs. 21+. 6-5 vs. top 20.

Win today and we switch places with Duke. Not sure we can overtake OSU. Lose, and given Duke's RPI, we probably fall behind Richmond for the 8 spot.

I think we get a home game regardless, but who we would play is anyone's guess. I don't agree with Mark.
Army is cooked. I can't see them making the field. If they do, how does the committee make a coherent argument for leaving Team X out?

LGO!!!
army and harvard aren't that different.

With the win, we move to 6 in the RPI (Duke 7). SOS is back to 2.

Our line reads 0-2 vs. top 5, 3-2 vs. 6-10, 4-1 vs. 11-20, and 4-0 vs. 21+.

I like us to get the 6 seed, which might mean a second round match-up with Cornell.

Revenge tour started today! LGO!!!

I guess the big question is if Syracuse somehow leaps Ohio State. One behind them on RPI, but SU’s SOS is 2 while OSU is at 15, which stands out. Should be interesting.

That Utah loss should drop them a little. Tourney selection process does not care what time of year the loss is,.

I'd prefer this team stay as far away from the Maryland side of the bracket as possible. They are the only team that I want to avoid playing. Obviously there are plenty of teams capable of beating this team, but I only genuinely worry about Maryland. Cuse beating them would be a shock. I have confidence this team can beat anyone else, especially Cornell.

Go ahead and book Syracuse for the first-round anchor game on Sunday night. The Orange’s ACC tournament title should get it up to the No. 6 seed, maybe even the No. 5 if the committee values the Orange’s multiple top-10 victories over Penn State’s single (but notable) item in that category. …

Hempstead, N.Y.
(1) IVY/Cornell vs. METRO ATLANTIC/Siena-AMERICA EAST/Albany winner
(8) Notre Dame vs. ATLANTIC 10/Richmond

Annapolis, Md.
(5) Syracuse vs. Harvard
(4) BIG TEN/Ohio State vs. PATRIOT/Colgate

Hempstead, N.Y.
(3) Princeton vs. COASTAL/Towson
(6) Penn State vs. North Carolina

Annapolis, Md.
(7) Duke vs. BIG EAST/Georgetown
(2) Maryland vs. NORTHEAST/Robert Morris-ATLANTIC SUN/Air Force winner

Last three included: Notre Dame, North Carolina, Harvard
First three on the outside: Army, Michigan, Boston U
Moving in: Air Force, Colgate
Moving out: Boston U, Utah
Conference call: ACC (4), Big Ten (3), Ivy (3)

NCAA needs to scrap the 400 mile rule nonsense. If Duke really gets Georgetown and we get Harvard, then what is the reward for beating Duke Today?

Notre Dame gets an easier match up too here.

it should be

Syracuse Georgetown
Duke Richmond
Notre Dame Harvard

So the top three bracketology experts have Syracuse as the five seed in all their predictions. That sounds promising.

There is some disagreement as to if SU will rematch against Colgate or Harvard. Both would be tough matchups. Part of me likes SU having some added motivation against a team they lost by one to in Harvard. Of course I think Syracuse matches up well against Colgate and they have the earlier victory of the Raiders, so I wouldn’t be disappointed to face them either.

Not that I “want” Ohio State, but given the alternatives, I think that’s the best we can hope for. OSU has a great defense, but I think we would match well against their O, and Mullen would have an advantage against their group I think. Getting ahead of myself obviously, but overall this would be a great draw for the Orange. Fingers crossed the committee sees it the same way.

I've been beating this drum for years, SUs been screwed by it a few times to.

Gate vs Harvard each has its own pros and cons as you noted. You can make a case for either being the better match up. Personally I'd prefer either vs Army. Both Gate and Harvard have less then stellar fogos and their defenses can really struggle at times. Both can also really fill it up to offensively and both ride very well

If Syracuse is lucky to be paired with them AND win first-round, I would enjoy seeing a rare matchup plus I read OSU goalie is 300lbs.

Ohio state is prob one of the hottest teams right now. Not sure id like to see them. But as stated gonna be tough draw no matter what. The field is so strong this year arnt gonna be any gimmes. Colgate/harvard either one won’t be fun to get. But prob best of anything else really. Def don’t want a richmond team. I don’t think cuse has the hustle for full 60mins vs them. Richmond is a very well run team and play very aggressive and hustle a lot.

But colgate we know and have played. They have talent on O for sure. Their defense is beatable tho n prob could do well in faceoffs . But their ten man ride will n has given us trouble. Same thing with harvard very very talented on O. Grant their faceoff game is prob worst then colgate. But they to can ride hard. Not to mention mcCools worst games have been against ivy teams(cornell/harvard). Also i don’t think our D matches up well vs harvard. They have a ton of dodgers with good size n good speed. Which can cause slides alot and sometimes when we slide happy or to much create loads of confusion on our own D. But would like a second crack at them also.

Like said prob not gonna be easy any draw we get. team is just gonna have to step it up another level then what they just played this weekend. This is now truely win or go home. Their stupid unforced turnovers will have to completely disappear. The grit and hustle will have to go up a peg. Their shooting will have to level up. They can’t let teams get extra man opportunities specially on boneheaded plays. While also trying to get man ups for us and bury those. Have to make teams pay for any and all mistakes they make little or small.

Mullen is a beast n has been stellar. Even he will need to be 60% or better. McCool will have to be 15saves a game if not more every game. Clearing has to continue to be what it was this pass weekend or 90% n up. That’s even with teams doing a ten man ride , and beat the ten man ride not just by throwing a half field shot n backing it up if doesn’t go in. The second line will need to produce. Bear and mcCarthy will have to score.

This prob one of the better fields in while meaning every team has chance or good shot at making a run. There’s no team that can’t be beat. Just gonna be matter of what teams play smart limit mistakes and cashes in on others mistakes. Either way should be a very very interesting tounry. Let’s go orange. Hated the taste left after denver last year. Well now is time to make up for it and prove to everyone that has been hating and talking smack their wrong. GO CUSE!!
