Class of 2016 Transfer Thread

IMO we really need to start looking for transfers. Next year we will be losing, at a minimum, TR, Lydon, Gallon, and Coleman which leaves us plent of space for a big class next year. We presently only have 8 scholarship players coming back this year. 9 IF we sign either of TT or Mystery Man, that still leaves us with at least 1 additional scholly this year, and 1 shy of a full scholarship scrimmage during practice (not good if were 2 shy). Kids like Matthews are low risk and high reward candidates at this juncture. Top 100 player out of high school, a year of practice at a high major program, will sit out a year to learn our system, and develop and mature mentally, physically and academically while providing a talented body for practice/scrimmage this year. If the transfer develops great, if not little is lost and you have reloaded already and provided a much needed practice player.

We might struggle to get the high end one-and-dones but that shouldn't stop us from picking up the next best thing and that is upperclassmen with talent. If you look at the final four this year you had upperclassmen leading the way on every team 'Nova, UNC, OU, and us. You might not be able to battle with the Duke and UK's of the world for top 10 talent every year but you can off set that talent with experience. JMHO.

We need to pick Fred Hoiberg's brain. He racked up transfers like silly at Iowa State

Paris Bass, recently added to the transfer market. 6'8 sophomore forward, averaged 18 points and 8 boards per game this past season at Detroit. Cuse had actually showed some interest in him years ago back in HS.

Francis, sounds like you think this would be a good move for SU as well as Francis if he wants to play in a major program. The fact that SU showed prior interest, he must be talented and he might lean toward SU as a destination.

He's a sophomore and would have to sit out a year. Would give the staff a chance to add another talented player for next year with some experience.

Yeah, I'm not sure some understand how valuable it would be to start building for next year even it means getting someone who needs to sit for one. But sometimes I get the feeling this staff is so worried about scaring off any 2017 recruit. It's probably why we go with three guards next year.

So does the staff have any plans on visiting Paris or doing any Bass fishing this summer? :D

I don't know but the prospect of having only 8 scholarship players on the roster this coming year is really scary. As much as I'd like them to get something on the line for the following year, I hope we bag some sort of fish for '16-'17.

The idea we wouldn't add a transfer because it would tick off a potential 2017 Freshman is beyond frustrating.

Either commit or whatever. We have 3 scholarship players for 2017 right now we need to add players is what I would tell any 2017 recruits.

He already redshirted so it might be possible he's graduating right?

Either way, this kid would be the perfect transfer/late roster addition. He's 6'8" with a 7' wingspan and can do a bit of everything. Decent 3pt shooter, rebounder, blocks some shots. A year to get even stronger and work on his game would really help him. He'd also give us a somewhat known commodity going into 2017-2018 at a position of need.

I thought he looked kind of slow and not sure how he would handle playing in the ACC.

"Mystery Man" is officially not a possibility. I guess it's Taurean Thompson or a roster of 8 scholarship athletes. W T .

Then tell us who it was since it doesn't matter anymore

Duke just won the championship with 8 players 2 years ago. Granted they had 3 top 15 incoming recruits that season. But are talent won't be very far off. We can still make the tournament with our 8 and a HOF coach.

Now if Hopkins was coaching I would feel a lot less confident.

said it in the other thread but felt it was worth a repeat. The last 7 years.
1 seed center went down or probably would have won it all after kansas was eliminated
3 seed
elite 8 one seed
final four
1 seed had some late season woes as cooney grant were injured.
sat out of tournament due to whatever bernie did off campus.
final four

We should have legit players banging at the door. Must be nobody left.
