Trebor Pena transferring to PSU

Pena nor his new QB Drew Allar are exactly lighting the world on fire. Also was made abundantly clear we were bringing in another QB prior to Pena leaving. You think Pena would have more or less than 150 yards receiving this year with Angeli throwing to him?
Cooks stats would be Peña’s if he were here.

That's some harsh ****.

CDRW was a mess here, but he's crushing it at Marshall so far. Maybe Rickie will end up the same, who knows. But that's P5 to G5 and nothing wrong with going where you have a better chance to succeed.

Not writing him off that he could succeed here based on one start and a couple times being thrown in as backup. Concerned? Of course. But not writing him off.

"MAYBE DII", come on.
Who would have thought Tommy Cutlets would start as a nfl QB?

Pena will get a chance to shine on a bigger stage. BUT, at the same time, NOT shining on a bigger stage can be a problem too. Perhaps it will be more difficult to get open against the Ohio State and Oregon DBs than it is to get open against 2024 Miami and Stanford, etc.

He has 8 rushing attempts and 15 receptions for PSU. WR end runs do not translate well to the NFL.

That first drive was moving along nicely and then he just threw up that "What ARE YOU THINKING" pass and it all went to crap after.
I hope they can build him up and get him to see the other targets, especially deep as safeties are all over him.

That first interception got tipped at the line of scrimmage.

I’m skeptical that Pena could have done anything to help Collins not lock on a guy and not work through any progressions at all. After this weekend, I’m certain Pena made the right decisions which ended up with him not being here. Anyone who doesn’t realize that after Saturday is delusional.

Collins is MAYBE a DII QB, absolutely not an FCS QB - and not even playing with prime Jerry Rice would change that.
Your assumptions after one game are delusional we shall see

Pena is not the 4th option. He has barely the most receptions and yards on the team.

But PSU passing game is not good. Drew Allar is not good. Its amazing how many QB's are hyped that are just blah. This QB draft class is going to be absolutely terrible. Too bad McCord didn't get one more year and stayed at SU for 2025. Would have been great all around for him and us.

That pass wasn't tipped. The pass 2 plays before that intended for Villari was tipped and probably should have been intercepted. The interception happened when he was just staring down his receiver and the defense made him pay.

The offense moved the ball at times but couldnt score. The Defense never did anything
Yep, this is why I think we could do a lot better on offense with Rickie if the turnovers stop. Defense will figure it out.

For Penn State, it was never the wide receivers last year or this year. I actually was finding myself getting annoyed during the game how they weren't getting Pena the ball more. Like use him to soften up the defense to make room for your even more explosive playmakers. I'm curious if they figure out that they need to use him more in short to medium yardage situations. Even though as a Syracuse fan, Penn State failing to reach the next level probably leaves a door open for Syracuse to gain some momentum in Pennsylvania recruiting, it was still frustrating because I think they win the game if Allar looked to Pena more. We certainly aren't going to be shy about throwing the ball to wide receivers. It's something between Allar and the offensive staff. They didn't even look to make plays with the wide receivers until they were down 17-3. Penn State has an excellent defense and you wonder if that affects offensive play calling. You don't want to risk interceptions trying to get it to your wide receivers to put more pressure on the defense. But guess what, when you are going up against elite teams they also have great defenses. They can contain your NFL running backs and tight ends if your not throwing to the wide receivers.

Hmm. I'm certain Pena made a business decision to turn his back on the only school that offered him the opportunity to play in a power conference out of high school, to play for that school's biggest regional nemesis who also happened to harbor a serial child molester for years.

I don't wish him ill, but he can kick rocks.
That wasn’t all they harbored … I loathe that university and its fan base.
