Tyler Betsey in the portal

Freeman, Souare, and George should all announce for the portal soon. Not sure about Fennell, though I don’t see much playing time for him on the horizon if Doty comes and we want to bring in other guards. Hopefully, he will be patient and wait for his turn to come.

Gerry made a point of the cupboard not being bare, so that would seem like more of a house cleaning than I am expecting.

If Doty and Kiyan are starting then we better have all Americans at the other 3 positions because that would be a massive waste of all the money we supposedly have

Yeah, that's an either/or for me, and neither is good enough to be the starter on a good team without raising their respective games by a level or two.

A good shooter but his defensive effort and/or ability was such a detriment that it negated much of the positives his shooting provided. Best of luck to him! On to the next player who can hopefully provide a more positive impact across the entirety of games.

Kids are not going to be able to coast and/or go through the motions on defense under GMac. The laziness we saw for the last few years will be a thing of the past.

Betsey is fine as your last scholarship player who can flip a game when nothing else is working. Not so much as your second guy off the bench.

Betsey's camp was disgruntled this year, no? Not sure details -- anyone want to share whether it was PT, coaching, or something else?

I believe so.

I think it was predicated on him getting off to a hot start, and getting tons of early PT where he was basically our best [or one of the best] offensive weapons, getting lots of shots, hitting lots of threes, etc.

Example: early in the season, he came off of the bench but had a green light, was hitting shots, and often turned games around with his offense. There were several games early in the pre-conference portion of the schedule that we might have lost if it weren't for Betsey lighting it up from three.

Then when the games got a little harder, and he wasn't the focal point offensively, his playing time went down. From what I understand, there was a multi-game stretch in the December / January timeframe where he got very limited playing time, and his Dad expressed his displeasure with that on social media. As well as his displeasure that his kid was so good offensively early, but was now getting "held back" by subpar coaching,

Makes sense, thank you.

I could see him at a seton hall type of team

Donnie came back.

Fennell is a point guard. Seems like he could fit on the roster as we need at least 2 or 3.

However, I would not be surprised if he transfers and ends up at a place like St. Mary’s.
