UB new locker room unveiled

Uh... no.

SU has not been "dodging" Buffalo. Sheesh - talk about making something out of nothing...
Steelerswan said it and I agreed with him. I think it's a perception that's out there, especially after that article saying UB is the best college football program in NY.,

I am not a kid, but I seriously doubt this.

Here are some examples of what a locker room should look like. Major fail for UB.

I Really don't like Clemson's... lol. Seems UB was going for a simlar vibe to some of them. Each kid gets a TV screen... cool. I like them. More than some of the ones you prefer. Texas? Yeah, that's awesome.

Seems they like to reveal them with darker lighting... because they look cool like that. Texas can be dark, too.

They all look different when you turn the lights all the way up...

The "perception that's out there" is only out there in the minds of you and the other guy.

This is a really odd hill the two of you have chosen to die on. Especially since it isn't the first time you've brought up this conspiracy theory.

Don’t make the mistake of thinking Buffalonians are normal people. The scent of a potential winning act in town will attract the mafia and sabres fans. These people crave W’s and something to be proud of, outside of their beer suckdown competency, like fish need water.

if the bulls build, and maintain, a winning product in the MAC they’ll gain a following. It wont be a Carrier Dome 45,000. More like a consistent 22-25,000 and maybe a better tailgate scene for adults
Do a lot of UB alumni remain in the area after they graduate? It seems like consistent winning with a lot of local alumni could build a good fanbase over time.

Yep. Buffalo’s not the city it was ten years ago. It’s rebounding big time. A lot of post grads and young professionals are staying.

Living in Knoxville, I see how many people have some sort of connection to the university and see how that contributes to the fanbase. I'm not saying UB would ever pack a 100,000 seat stadium, but a large state school, in a large city, that won consistently could really grow over the course of time.

These pics drive me nuts.

I know it’s a glorified box, but given it’s a glorified box, I feel like the cost to add bells and whistles (many of which will never be used ... see LSU’s locker cots) is minimal, but the advertising component is real. 1-2 good players are the difference between making millions and millions of extra bucks a year and not.

I suspect ours will be upgraded in the next few years.

I like LSUs "cots". Time is at a premium. If somehow a kid can grab a 44 minute nap before class? It could be the difference in winning a national championship...lol. Kidding, but i'm not kidding that some kids might find that the most useful feature of the locker room.

They also added a 49 degree cool down room. They monitor sweat for nutritional deficiencies. Players swallow temperature monitoring pills(no heat stroke). They added scientific controls and comfort controls, for any edge they can find.

It is reasonable to think while for years we have literally been geographically jumping over them to schedule almost every other team in the MAC. all while they are in state and 150 miles away and we have often struggled to fill our OOC schedule.

Like I keep saying, how can we upgrade our locker rooms when we have to send egghead professors on their Tuscany sabbaticals...

That's an easy assumption to make. The more logical conclusion is that we try to play teams that are in areas where we want to make recruiting inroads. How does UB accomplish that?

Thanks for the response and the recruiting angle is a good take. However, it cant be the top reason we look for games in certain geographies. As a 3rd or 4th priority reason, then heck yes, or even #2. We have been playing MAC teams for years and dont see the reason we haven't included UB. when you talk in state, right down the road, and a bit of success at the next conference level down, some trepidation is understandable. We have it as fans.

Addressing how UB addresses recruiting geography, well it really doesn't and neither does Colgate. That said, UB has its advantages including under normal circumstances bringing in some butts into the visitor seats on gameday. Probably more fans than any of the mac teams on the schedule as well as most acc teams minus Clemson, FSU, UNC, and Louisville.

I just shamelessly slept on campus ... or in class.

I think the Dome? would be capacity and if the game played there was at New Era, that would be a huge crowd as well.

Good point, would be plenty of juice, but...they wouldn't be an automatic W.

Buffalo is just a sleeping CFB power like UMass
UB is a very good team and getting better all the time Lance Leipold is a solid coach and a proven program builder. They are entering a phase where they are a high G5 who can knock off P5's.

Buffalo can't fill the sandbox they play in now but their apparently gonna fill the Dome or Rich Stadium, you can't make this stuff up.

No, rather they will bring more fans than colgate, all of the other mac teams, and most acc teams minus Clemson, fsu, and the ville.

Look at the states that include the MAC teams we've played. They are in areas with more talent than NY. If recruiting is 3rd or 4th in priority, what would you say should be #2?
