Uche Izoje named ACC Rookie of the Year

We need more ACC Rookie of The Year type talent! Here is the National Recruiting Rankings of ACC Teams in the top 25:
#3: Duke : Highest ranked player: #12
#5: Notre Dame: Highest ranked player: #9
#7: Clemson: Highest ranked player: #11
#11: North Carolina : Highest ranked player: #4
#13: Florida State: Highest ranked player: #21
#18: Louisville: Highest ranked player: # 34
#25: NC State: Highest ranked player: # 38
Syracuse has one HS recruit for 2026, that is not ranked in the top 100 by ESPN.
This year's team has had an incredible season and I expect them to win a couple of games in NCAA Tournament this year, but moving forward, if we expect to compete in the ACC and move up into the upper tier, our recruiting has to get better!!! The ACC has placed 7 teams in the top 25. I am most concerned about Clemson. Their new Coach is killing it on the recruiting trail, one of their their top recruits is from Upstate New York!!!! The Transfer Portal should be used to supplement your roster as opposed top building your roster... Our High School recruiting has to get better!!

There is a way to pay them NIL for things they do outside of the United States. But the players have to actually be in the country where they are being paid and Uche really can’t risk leaving the US and then getting back into the country.
Well, I bet if she got on an Uncle Sam’s boat tour, or private vessel, out of Alex Bay, wondered into Canadian waters, did her NIL gig, that would work. No customs coming back.

Assuming letting Adam out of purgatory was part of the GMac deal. That said, will he be helping coach Jack? Hope so. Seems like she can coach ‘em up.

This is promising!

Really hope she stays. Players have made comments before and then left. The university really needs to support Coachs Jack and Reggie. Both women’s programs are well coached and win. With the right investment from the university they could be powerhouses for the university. As ADBB said “investing in women’s sports makes dollars and cents”.

So here is the problem I see in this statement. If she feels the disrespect from our fan base, there are many fan bases that have huge support for women's basketball. Places that put bodies in the seats, and she has seen those places this year. She may want that experience where 1,000s are cheering for her every game.

I don't think the disrespect is coming from our fan base. It's more from UConn and other trolls on social media.

And maybe a few young and dumb DO writers.

Absolutely other teams will reach out to her. Her goal is to play in WNBA, she could choose that now and get drafted. I think playing another year in college could help expand her game and a higher draft pick. So the question I see do you start over with new coach/team or stay where you have already built relationships.

As I indicated in another thread at the end of the ACC tournament:

I hope she stays another year. A little bit of $$$ may help. She's very good friends with Camdyn Nelson.

I hope she stays! 🤞

I got to chat with Camdyn's parents at the ACC tournament. A very nice family.

Coach Jack has a great relationship with all of her players. I think Uche, came to Syracuse because of Coach Jack and I think that relationship will lead her to stay Orange. You have to be careful when you transfer.....the grass is usually not greener on the other side. Everything is set up here, for Uche to reach her dream of the WNBA...Why leave and take a huge risk for more money...?

Indeed, look what happened with Latham which is a shame really

And being from Australia she is eligible at the age of 20 being International. So why go to a big time school and sit , when she can play full-time here and show all her skills. Then get drafted in the first round next year and be almost a millionaire.

She is from Nigeria and moved here from Japan after schooling there and playing 2 years professionally there. But if it is 20 for International, she is still International. But being from Nigeria it is very risky for her to leave the US. So keeping her visa in tact will be important to her.

She needs to play more physical, especially defensively. She needs to be aware of her surroundings too. She puts the ball on the floor with players around her too much.
