UConn 2/25

As others have said, Gampel is the absolute worst place to attend an away game.

Storrs is in the middle of nowhere on a two-lane road. Parking is horrid. It takes forever to get off campus. Then security directs you in some odd direction onto a dark unmarked road, and you have no idea where you are. I was not joking when I said I would still be driving around CT at 1 a.m.

This may well be SU's last game forever at UConn. It is obscene that it is being played at Gampel rather than in Hartford (where the arena is twice as big and actually accessible). But ESPN wanted the game as their "Game Day," and we all know who controls the scheduling.

Durham will be an easy destination by comparison.

I find these comments about Gampel and UConn fans to be laughable..

You're not going to be in the Carrier Dome. UConn fans aren't there to watch SU come in and win and we're not there to welcome folks decked out in orange. Our students most likely will have been drinking some (for god's sake, they serve beer in the Carrier Dome and you won't find that in Gampel and 3/4 of posters here who will be attending have said they'll have been drinking beforehand), and parking is spread out over a large, rural campus (I've parked out by Manley for football and basketball games in Syracuse and driven up the Adams St hill to get to campus).

I certainly don't condone any poor behaviour on the part of any UConn fans. I don't go to our games to confront our visitors. I do go because I like Gampel, it's on campus atmosphere and the fact that we've had tremendous success there.

To read these posts (and I've seen them on our UConn boards as well) is to think that any SU fan in Syracuse fell all over people wearing UConn stuff at the Dome 2 weeks ago welcoming them with open arms and being stone cold sober doing it.

And before you say I'm too biased, I've had a daughter graduate from Syracuse and another from UConn.

I hope you were a good dad and explained to your uconn girl that not everyone can get in to Syracuse.

Sounds like you will always have a fall back team.

There is nothing appealing about going to Gampel; at all.
All in the eyes of the beholder. I kind of like the numerous National Championship banners that hang in there..

obviously not...She, like me, will actually pull for the other team...as long as they aren't playing each other... :)

Last time I looked it was much easier to get into Syracuse... How'd that happen? Andall of my girls are doing just fine.. :) No complaints from me..

Photo shop a porno-lesbian picture with Gloria Allred's and Laurie Fine's faces on them and hold that up. Or maybe do the same thing but with LF and Doug Gottlieb.

I was at the XL Center (it was called the Civic Center back then) as a 12 or 13 year old wearing Cuse gear and got a lot of stuff from a few students while walking to our seats.

Gotta remember its gonna be a 9PM game; most students will have been drinking all day for that, so they'll be even more rough than usual.

UConn students can't hold their liquor most will be comatose by halftime.
