UConn Football Schedule

Ughh that was going to be my big road game next year.. If we're playing them late August, I don't see it working out. What ACC, why the hell are we starting the season against conference opponents?

It’ll be early September, if that helps.

Eh possibly. Moose season, plus the girlfriend has been tossing the idea around about catching the US Open. Might be too much work to miss all at once.

My boss's daughter works for the Clemson football team. We've been talking about going together, but I don't think there's anyway he plans a trip during moose season.

Not really any other epic roadies next year, right? Still bummed Wisconsin got canned

Not the ACC’s fault. SUAD did the OOC scheduling, influenced a bit by Dome renovation work.

They've had 11 kids transfer out so far.
I would say we have about a 5% change of losing the game, so sure it's not "automatic".

Louisville had a decent sized exodus last year and it may have been for the better.

You never know, some of the kids may be bad apples, who knows

Louisville had P5 talent on their roster
Louisville hired the best G5 coach
Sure these kids might all be bad apples, BUT they are not the reason Rutgers is the worst P5 school and will be again next year

Yea yea yea, it's always more fun to blame someone else tho!

Fine. But we've played them 11 times in the last 15 years and they have a winning record. Couple that with the fact that for the majority of fans, SU's sporting history begins with membership in the Big East (if not later), and that we played UConn across nearly all sports. Our schools have athletic history.

Your dose of reality is unwelcomed here.

Not planning a trip during moose season, eh?

Well, I have to admit that I've never heard that one before.

We're still very much in subsistence living up here. Filling your freezer with moose and fish for the winter is make or break for many families financially. If you don't get moose and have to add in the costs of store bought meat for the year, it's a pretty big hit.

I'm the only one in my fam up here who eats game meat, and I'm not watching out for anyone too old to hunt, so moose season isn't as important to me. Fish tho.. If we don't have a freezer full of fish by August, Sonnary would prolly leave me.

When we plan summer research experiences, workshops etc, we have to plan around fish camp. Our orientation is planned around moose season.

UConn needs to move football to the Patriot or CAA. Build a nice soccer/ football stadium on campus. Maybe about 8-12K seats.

The Rent needs to get an MLS team and call it a day.
Will those leagues accept a football-only?

Georgetown plays in the Patriot.

Honestly, though, I think UConn will look to survive as long as it can as an independent. They’ll need to be creative. I still believe they’re hope is to make it as an FBS program. Time will tell.

Villanova FB plays in the CAA. UConn could join New Hampshire, Maine and URI.
All they need is UMass and Vermont, and they have the original Yankee Conference back together!

That is incredible. Is meat that expensive up there? How much for a lb of prime ribeye?

I love fish. What kind of fish? And how expensive is fish up there? Fish is more expensive than meat in NJ.

I haven't picked up a prime rib since last Christmas, but I feel like a 9 pounder cost me around $60-70? Could be wrong. Picked up a bone in rib eye the other day for $22. Not sure what prices are like compared to the lower 48, I haven't shopped for anything real down there in 8 years.

It might not be that store bought meat is unreasonably expensive. I think it's more when you think about feeding a family of 4 or 5 for a year, (assuming you're eating meat every night, because... why wouldn't you) having a few hundred pounds of moose meat in your freezer really brings costs down. Obviously you don't want to eat moose every night (though some families do) so you're still hitting the store a little.

Fish - We fish the Klutina river for sockeye and king salmon. "Copper River Reds". Sonnary and her mom hit the Chitna River for a dip netting charter each summer. It normally conflicts with work but I'm planning to get on that trip this summer. Hopefully catch some halibut this summer down in Valdez. Sonnary got skunked on a trip last summer, which was a bummer because halibut is amazing. I befriended a new guy at the bar the last few months. He just recently told me he has a huge fishing boat down in Valdez. He goes down every weekend in the summer and said he'd take me and anyone I have out for just the price of gas ($300-400). I'm sure I'll throw in some whiskey as well.

Don't know the fish prices off the top of my head. More expensive than you'd think, since ya know.. it's caught here. I believe most fish is shipped down to Seattle, packaged and shipped back up, but that could be an urban legend.

Get up here. You've got a free bedroom in my basement, a vehicle to drive, and I'll point you in the direction of some awesome fishing. Or you can sign up for the CuseFaninVT experience which involves driving to Valdez and just day drinking for 9 hours
