Perhaps. How will they be in 8-10 years when these games get played?
UConn needs to move football to the Patriot or CAA. Build a nice soccer/ football stadium on campus. Maybe about 8-12K seats.Good question. But keep in mind, UConn won’t be able to survive too many years as an independent in football. They’re absolutely zany at UConn, as they should be, about its move to return to the Big East in basketball. But they need to find a suitable home for its football team. If it’s not in a conference that includes SU, it’s less likely that UConn will be playing SU often, if at all, in the future.

I’m not advocating playing YuCon.
Syracuse will pound Rutgers next year. It won't even be close.I’d rather open with UConn next year than Clemson, as has been rumored. But doesn’t appear that will happen. I see trouble if we open next year with road games at Clemson and Rutgers. A trip to Rutgers is by no means an automatic win for SU.

Looks like we will not be playing them in 2020.I know this year has been rough to say the least, but we will NOT, I repeat, will NOT lose to freaking Rutgers next year

It’s the only conference road team that has an open slot that weekend. It wouldn’t surprise me if it was another Thursday (or Friday) night game.So it appears we open at Clemson??

There was/is talk of doing some scheduling magic such that Syracuse would play at Yukon opening weekend and have Yukon play at WMU instead of SU going there.
I certainly won't be surprised. You're gonna look back and say I was right. You’re going to be surprised. I won’t.

You'll say I was right.I watched this year’s team and saw some of the worst performances I can recall. I don’t expect a sudden improvement next year. And as bad as Rutgers has been, it’ll still be a tough matchup for SU. We’d look just as bad in the Big 10.
Extremely likely yes
You’re going to be surprised. I won’t.
I really don't think there will be a repeat of opening with conference games next season. I think it was a one-off to hype the ACCN. If the football coaches are anything like the b-ball coaches, it won't happen. The b-ball coaches were pretty universal in saying it was a really bad idea. It’s the only conference road team that has an open slot that weekend. They're in a world of hurt. The only public schools the Patriot has as members are Army and Navy and they don't play football in the conference. The CAA might not even want them because they already have 12 members for football.UConn needs to move football to the Patriot or CAA. Build a nice soccer/ football stadium on campus. The Rent needs to get an MLS team and call it a day.
I am not a doom and gloom guy but I will say that our record in the last decade or two against B1G teams is not good. Not good at all. Even against B1G programs that are not top notch.I watched this year’s team and saw some of the worst performances I can recall. I don’t expect a sudden improvement next year. We got the bowl game win against Minnesota and I think we beat Illinois not that long ago. But lots of losses.
So it appears we open at Clemson??
