If you go with "least successful" instead of "least talented" then you could throw in Rutgirls as well.We are going to sadly likely going to see UConn in the future football schedules.
Its between UConn and UMass for the title of the least talented division 1 FBS football team.
Disagree. A "winnable game" is not good enough. If you can guarantee that we put an ass-whipping on them each time, okay. We recruit in New England and a loss at UConn would be disastrous for our recruiting, just like our play this season.Playing UConn from this point forward is no different then playing UMass of Buffalo, teams folks here have been clamoring to get on the schedule. No recruit from eastern PA, South Jersey, or Ohio, is picking us simply because we might play a one-off against one of their second tier programs once during their 4-5 years at SU (particularly since So. Jersey and Eastern PA is a pretty easy day trip). We seem to be recruiting the New England Prep schools more heavily that those areas now anyway, and with more success.
There is no fear of legitimizing UConn at this point. They got left at the curb when we we caught the bus to the ACC with BC, and after the Rutgers debacle (they got what they wanted, really) there is no way the Big Ten comes further east.
A game against UConn is exactly what SU needs. A winnable game against a former regional rival, that plays in an area we actively recruit, and is a decent roady on the rare occasion we have to play there. (Leveraging a two for one is probably the right thing to do, but that's what we should be doing with all mid majors to maximize home games).
Why do people keep expressing concern that we would lose to them? That is a ridiculous reason to not play them. Name any other FBS team we are less likely to lose to. I doubt you can name 5.Disagree. UConn does nothing for Syracuse attendance. It’s not a rival and playing in Boston every 2 years should be enough for New England alumni.I’m biased, okay. I live in Connecticut. I enjoy playing — and beating — UConn. It’s crazy to think that playing UConn is somehow beneath us. What’s beneath us — and humiliating — is giving up 63 points to Maryland and starting off the season 3-4 after being ranked. We’ve got much bigger problems than playing UConn.

Playing Buffalo/Temple/FIU/FAU do more than playing UConn.
Giving them a 1-1 is like Syracuse expecting Michigan/Ohio State/Alabama/Florida a home/home.
These games don’t excite fans. If we are going to play mid-majors home/home play ones in better recruiting areas.
Buffalo allows Syracuse to ask the state for public funding for research/aid any other areas. Our Northeast schedule isn’t enough for this New England SU fan. Honestly, it flat out sucks. Thankfully we get Rutgers next year.
I don’t t see what more we’d get out of playing Buffalo than UConn. Temple would be a nice addition.
As easily we forget what Connecticut has provided SU with in terms of talent. Or have you forgotten Floyd Little, Dwight Freeney, Kyle McIntosh, Erv Philips, Scott Kiernan and a host of others?

UConn does absolutely nothing for our recruiting.
It’s less than a 5 hour drive and parents of recruits can get here easily.
It’s not a flight away. Plus we don’t get
the blue chip CT kids the big boys come in and get those Kids.
Being selfish is fine. That is your right it’s just not a good series for our football team.
We're on the same page. If the AD wants to schedule UConn as a sacrificial lamb, I'm cool with it. I can't comprehend the opinion some have that it's a risk because they might beat us. If that's the reasoning, let's stop scheduling all FBS teams outside of the ACC.I’m biased, okay. I live in Connecticut. I enjoy playing — and beating — UConn. Agreed. I've said this numerous times. Especially the 4 for 1. And it would be an easy road trip for me.2 for 1? How about a 4 for 1? Or better yet, 4 for 0. They don't deserve a home game.
They bus to Uconn? Isn't that like 5 hours? You guys won't like this: heard we might be playing at UConn instead of at WMU next season. Actually it makes financial sense (bus to UConn vs fly to Kalamazoo). It didn't come from an SU source though so YMMV.
4 Hrs if you drive the speed limitThey bus to Uconn? Isn't that like 5 hours?
Why would BYU be a regular for UConn? Is the intent to lose in every state?

Let's consistently win first...We can put 45K in there with UConn if we are winning 8-9-10 gamesI think we should try harder to schedule teams against brand name opponents that will excite SU fans and bring the casual fan to the Dome, and will also bring lots of visiting fans. I think the ideal two are Nebraska and Tennessee. We would get at least 45k for those games, and they're also teams that are on our level and we can beat.

But you can kill two birds with one stone. Schedule games right now against programs with name recognition that will fill the Dome and are also totally beatable.
Nebraska is marginally better than Western Michigan at most, but would bring 10k more paying customers to the Dome.
How good will we be?Perhaps. How will they be in 8-10 years when these games get played?
