UConn postgame

Fran must have talked to Mike Messere.

If anyone thinks it's disrespectful get a thicker skin or kick rocks. Fran's first and foremost worry should be to his teams focus and effort among other things. They played like azz today win or lose. Great way to get their attention and it sends a better message than making them run if they lost, or in practice on Monday. It just doesn't have the same impact days later. Good for Coach.

Moultrie-Goddard reminded me of JR Johnson on Special Teams today. He was flying around like an absolute missile and laid multiple sticks, one on a PR and one on a KR.

UConn’s PR Man is either the ballsiest or the dumbest return man I’ve ever seen, maybe both. Kid took multiple KO shots.

The only people that have issue with it is UConn fans and people who probably didn’t watch the game

Totally agree here. Coaching blunder by Fran that he should’ve been asked about. I’d have to go back, but I’m pretty sure there were about 30 seconds on the play clock when we snapped the ball on the Yasin TD

There was at least 13-18 seconds on the clock on the play before or two plays before, also.

And if you end up needing all that time to score, you won't have it if you take the play clock down to almost zero on the preceding plays.

And you lose.
How can you need more than :30 to run two plays with a timeout left? You can take 29 seconds on the first play and still get the timeout and run the last play.

I would have burned 10-15 seconds before first down. That would have left you with 35-40 to run 3 plays and you still had a timeout. Easily enough time. Or it forces UConn to burn some of their timeouts.

How are sprints post game disrespectful?
When you run sprints on the field after beating your opponent, you're making a clear statement that you're waaaay better than them. So I can see how that could be construed as disrespectful, but intent matters too.

It's not like they were out there to show UConn up, Fran has to send the right message to his team. It also sent a message to the country that the standard at Syracuse has been raised.

If we're being honest, UConn really had no business losing that game. I feel like they got too conservative with their playcalling in the second half. There were numerous times they could have given us a knockout punch, but just couldn't connect.

If the roles were reversed and we lost a game in that exact fashion, I would agonize over it for like 10 years.
yeah but imagine missing that game? That is something to regret for the next 10 years. Oh wait...

We played very poorly. It looks like we aren’t very good and it will be an extremely challenging year this year. But those of us who aren’t complete homers already knew that.

Having said that, UConn is a complete crap program and their fans are totally delusional. They were close to winning, yes, but the actual better team won.

Fran has every right to be embarrassed as losing to UConn would’ve been an embarrassment.

We may not be good this year but Syracuse football is a 1000x better program than UConn. I hope they’re happy celebrating their crap wins over other little crap programs in their little meaningless existence from now until the end of time.
Not a brutal enough assessment in my book.

We'll agree to disagree, but your statements lead me to believe you think we can score whenever we want.

It just doesn't work that way.
I don't think the amount of time on the play clock when the ball is snapped makes any difference whatsoever to our likelihood of scoring.

Good point. UConn would actually have to start using its timeouts, which means you have even less of an issue getting your plays off.

I know we didn't score at the end of the game to take the lead but we were worried about giving the ball back to that high powered UConn offense with :48 seconds left

If the play clock is running, the game clock is running. Unless you're coming off an OOB run or an incomplete pass. Then, what possible difference does it make?

Did people not watch the D the first 35 mins of the game?

17 pts 243 yards

This is UConn that is unacceptable. Give the D credit for shutting them down after that. Similar to Tennessee. And many games last year. Got to start games better.
I agree if we play defense like we do in 2nd half’s during first half we’d be much better this season
