The amount of time left is irrelevant to whether the play works or not. The only issue is if you leave yourself enough time to run all the plays available to you. So with a timeout left how is :30 not enough for two plays? A play near the goal line takes ~5-7 seconds, and you only need :01 on the game clock when the ball is snapped for the second play. So you have :22 to get a play in and get lined up again, or you can take your timeout if you're concerned. If the play clock is running, the game clock is running. Unless you're coming off an OOB run or an incomplete pass. Then, what possible difference does it make?
