The ACC should invite them tomorrow.
1. They have a statewide following.
2. Major public university.
3. Right now the only states that the ACC owns are North Carolina and Vriginia. Connecticut would be a 3rd.
4. Natural rival for Syracuse.
5. UConn, Rutgers and Penn State would get about as close to controlling NYC as anyone realistically could.
Ultimately I think the B1G wants Virginia and North Carolina, so not sure they'll ever get into the B1G, but they make sense for the ACC.
Does anyone know how getting Maryland and Rutgers has worked out for the Big Ten? I'm not talking about wins or losses on the court or field. Have they increased revenues significantly or just split up the pie into smaller slices?
Wow, I never would have thought Rutgers and Maryland would drive up interest in the North East and Mid Atlantic. It's going to prove to be a home run when they sign their new tv deal.
I hope they end up going with Fox for their Tier 1. If ESPN gets them, it's going to be hard to get prime time spots on ESPN/ABC for big ACC games.

Boston College sees itself as the northeast rival for Syracuse. UConn was the leader of the schools that sued the ACC 12 years ago.
Isn't that Fishy? Here is the chairman of the roundtable:
What's the main draw of UConn? Good hoops? The B1G doesn't need to add another dumpster football program, and right now, unless it's a big fish, they don't need to add any school.
Rutgers already delivers pizza to the NYC market!!!
So, we're told, does the SEC. In all of these stories, please remember that UNC-CHeat was a driving force in creating the ACC and feel they have way more than just "a lot" invested in the continued existence of the ACC. They and UVa will not do anything that could lead to the dissolution of the ACC. The only way either of us would leave is for the ACC to vote to dissolve the conference like the old Southwest Conference did when the Arkies left. That is something we do not want to happen and will do all we can to avoid it.1. They have a statewide following.

That is just adorable.

The best discussion of this on the Internet that I've been able to find is on Georgia Tech's "The Hive" board. IM me for a link if you'd like. It's currently on page 40 of its 9th 100-page thread on the topic. All are welcome into the discussion there as long as you remember to avoid saying anything that could draw the ire of our usually benevolent overload, Wake Forest, for whom all of us in the ACC toil and unquestioningly obey. "Wake giveth and Wake taketh away. Blessed be the Name of of Wake."

I get a charge out of the notion that Warde Manuel will actively campaign to get UConn into the B1G.
