UConn's ups-and-downs over the past few seasons have been kind of incredible...

2006 Up: they were the best team in the country, George Mason beat them in the Elite 8 in a miracle upset
2007 Down: 17-14, no postseason
2009 Up: 1 seed in NCAA tourney, Final Four
2010 Down: 18-16, NIT
2011: Up: Win the National Title
2012: Down: still safe I think, but getting closer and closer to the bubble.

I wonder if any team in the modern era as ever had a Final Four/No NCAA/Final Four/No NCAA cycle in a 4 year span.

I'm still shocked they won the NCAA title last year. Least talented team since Nova to win the title. Talk about getting all of the breaks on a way to a title.

Having the best player in the country (by a mile too, IMO) doesn't hurt.

They are 14-7 with nine regular season games left. I could see them being favored in only two or three of them. So if they go 3-6 with one loss in the BET, that would put them at 17-14. Not too many teams go 17-14 and make it into a post season tournament.

Only team in NCAA history to go without a postseason tournament the year after making the Final Four TWICE? Could it happen?

Man, they are down to 43 in the Pomeroy rankings.

They have 5 home games left; Seton Hall, Depaul, Marquette, SU, and Pitt. 4 road games, Louisville, us, Nova, Providence. I'm thinking they'll be favored in maybe 4 of those games? Pomeroy projects them to finish 5-4, so 19-11 and 8-10. That's gotta be bubble territory, right?

Definitely. Based on how they've playing, they are in very real danger of not making the tournament. They've had some bad losses too, and not many good wins.

I doubt the fans are really up at arms about it though. They are just coming off their 3rd title. I guess that can afford a little slump. Calhouns teams typically are like that. I just hope its our time to get a 2nd title.
