UGH...DINO HOT SEAT ODDS

Dino's HOT b u t t moving forward.

Fine with Brent posting that. Dino’s not performed well and a lot of the hype around the program, not that there’s much, is generated by die hards like us.

Dino would likely be gone if not for his contract. It’s time the football program starts winning.

What do you expect to see posted about a yearly 4 or 5 win team?

The last week before the season is usually a great week around this board. Lots of heady optimism and enthusiasm.

The reality is, if SU pieces together a good season, this board will be a fun place to visit. If not, it’s going to be miserable.

I hate reading this kind of stuff before the season has even kicked off.

We're in a very tenuous point of SU football history, college football itself is unstable and Dino is holding on by the mere fact his contract is very tough to buy out.

Not sure I can remember a period like this in SU history to be honest. Even GERG last year it felt inevitable it was crashing and he had zero rabbis to support going forward. Same with Shafer who pretty much everyone agreed was the wrong selection out of the gates. Everyone agreed on Dino, everyone likes Dino and everyone (reasonably speaking) wants Dino to make the putt.

However, the school can't keep going on with their head in the sand if we win 4 games this year. Either the program has to make changes or we have to completely accept the program is what it is and Dino has tenure to work through 3-5 win seasons without consequence

Agreed, I don’t think there is a single person out there that doesn’t want Dino to be the guy.

Every year I say, this is the year that Dino proves that he is THE guy

Hoping this season is it

Some of you are silly. A book lists the SU coach as the most likely to get fired and a local media person is supposed to ignore that? Come on.
It’s literally their job, they aren’t employed by SU. I appreciate him sharing different media about SU, good or bad. And I like listening to his opinions.

Because, listen I know this may be crazy, but I take his opinions with a grain of salt and understand it’s good to hear differing opinions. Some are valid some are not, and guess what - some of my opinions are valid and some not when the truth shakes out.

Yeah a coach who won 1 game two years ago and hasn’t gone bowling but once in 6 years is the favorite for getting canned - it literally does make sense. I doubt it happens, I feel confident, but if you were a betting agency you have to follow the stats.

The only reason Dino wouldn't be tops on my get canned list? The $10M buyout, and the, let's say, parsimonious nature of SU.

My take going into the season is that the in-game coaching errors will be cleaned up by Robert and this will all be a non-issue. We'll win enough close games to get us over the hump.

Probably just some more wishful thinking. Typically, the top guy, CEO, type etc. isn't the one with the most technical expertise and knowledge, but rather garnishes that information from his/her subordinates, etc. and ultimately renders the most crucial/critical decisions. He has proven that he doesn't possess that main skill set and capability on the field either, certainly not when the pressure seems to be on.

IMO, other than his good natured disposition and ethical stewardship for the university, he doesn't bring much to the table relative to the main qualities required to win (consistently) at the P5 level.

Do people really think if White becomes the next coach things will change? Recruits are not flocking here. When was the last five star recruit to even VISIT SU.

It's not exactly a hot take. Dino has had one good season in his six years here. People expect SU to finish at the bottom of the ACC yet again. So for an outsider looking in, which is what this book is, suggesting Dino is most likely to be a goner is pretty logical.

Obviously we all hope it doesn't come to that.
Dino is 1 for 6. Any other coach wouldn't be on the hot seat they would be in the cheap seats.
Hats off to Dino and his agent they won the lottery with his job and the University isn't going to pay him 10 m to leave. Hes most likely back if he doesn't win a game.

Normally agree, but I hate Brent even when I agree with him lol
Don't know about Axe nor have I ever listened to his podcasts.

Does Dino and Axe have a cordial media relationship in person? Also, wish Cuse would reveal who is asking questions in press conferences for it is hard to hear on YouTube.

Did Gronk actually visit when he fake put us on his final list because his dad went to SU?

I don't care about the 5 stars. We never got those guys absent complete aberrational moments like Konrad where we had no business plucking him away from ND but we did because Pasqualoni could recruit the north east on the back of the operation being run on the hill.

i'll never forget Belichick when he spoke about Dick Mac when Mac died. He spoke about having to go to Syracuse yearly because of the talent Mac brought there. We need to get back to that. Rutgers kinda has that going with the NFL talent they have cobbled together on the back of mediocre results.

Great post.

I thought Shafer did a good job his first year. Despite the GaTech debacle, getting a team that lost a ton from the year prior to a bowl game was remarkable. But his recruiting stunk, and his 2nd and 3rd years stunk. He wasn't turning things around, it made sense to move on.

GRob should have been fired after '07. And definitely should have been fired and hauled from the Dome in handcuffs at halftime of the '08 Penn State game.

Click-bait-Brent?

Perception is bad until it’s not, local “journos” like Brent just ride the wave whichever way it’s going
Brent has mentioned time and time again that Dino is not losing his job this year barring an absolute disaster. You obviously don't actually listen to what he says, and let others opinions guide yours here.
Brent didn't come up with those odds.
He actually picked them to go bowling.

Click bait is right. I just don’t understand the value of this kind of “reporting.”
Absolutely does nothing but of course arms our recruiting rivals.

people hate opinion people when their opinion is not the one they share.
No I despised him since he would make personal insults regarding coach P. Not critical comments regarding coaching but juvenile insults.
