It's all part of the Scots-Irish crowd that settled these states in the late 1700's and 1800's.

How about the people we watched in the "Hatfields vs. McCoys"? I didn't see any WVU spirit gear in the series, but I'm certain some of those guys wore "Mountaineer" t-shirts under their buckskins. I have it on good authority that "Devil Anse" Hatfield had WVU season tickets.
