Umass may not be playing football much longer

Nobody likes their tax money going to pipe dreams, but that is what government does and we all have to live with it. UMASS will be in a conference before too long and then your investment will have been for a good cause.
They were in a perfectly fine conference (MAC), and they decided to leave. They're not going to a P5 conference. Forget THAT pipe dream.

Absolute best they can hope for is C-USA. And that would probably kill their Olympic sports. Same with the American. The best place for them, if they want to maintain a football team, is to drop down and join the CAA.

The AAC will take them.

Bamford a smart young guy. He got the basketball team turned around with a good hire in Matt McCall. When UMASS football starts winning, you can still jump on the bandwagon along with all the other crusty Massachusetts naysayers.
And when exactly are they going to start winning? They have no recruiting base. They have no league. There is no reason to thing they will ever get enough good players to actually win.

I dont see it Cous. There is a 15k minimum attendance requirement, and they haven't hit that for years...They bring no $$ value, imo.

The MAC gave them 5 years to join for all sports. They wouldn’t join for basketball, so the MAC told them to pound sand.

They have a first year coach, taking over a basket case. He is going to need at least 3 years.

MAC kicked them out for not putting all their other sports in it. They didn't leave.

They probably should have gone through with it and bussed everyone to Ohio. UB is a similar school overall they'd have had a peer. Plenty of A10 schools are in the rust belt.

Big mistake. As UConn found out.
UCONN shot themselves in the foot. Every other school in the AAC has made strides forward except UCONN. Temple and Tulane have become respectable. UCONN should have dominated that conference, but they made some terrible hires. UCONN needs to look in the mirror to see their problem.
