UNC/Duke game might not be happening tonight

It's so obvious Duke doesn't want to play in front of an all UNC student crowd. /r/collegebasketball had a thread the other day with student section set ups around the country, and UNC (along with UK) is by far one of the worst. So for once, UNC was going to have a good atmosphere, and of course Duke pusses out. Can't handle playing in front of the UNC student population who has a snow day tomorrow. Any excuse about weather is bullshit.

I posted this in the other thread: "If you are an administrator at any of those schools in that area, you start strategizing alternate transportation scenarios two weeks ago when you see the chaos that ensued in Atlanta. Not just so the "big game" can go on, but because you value the safety of your students."

It really boggles the mind that they did not plan ahead.

Duke waited too long ... to start their 8-miles trip to Chapel Hill.

Couldn't they see the storm coming?
I posted half kidding that the NCAA requires a team to be there 24 hours ahead of time and if the refs made it they should have to forfeit. Duke could have stayed in Chapel Hill last night or like you said left a lot earlier.

ESPN 9pm sked with Duke-UNC postponed: Stanford-Washington moves to ESPN, UCF-Memphis to ESPN2 & Buzzer Beater on ESPNU

Waiting until 6:00 to leave. Who could have predicted?

The craziest part of this story... If we were playing at UNC tonight, there would be a game... because we would have been there last night. It's kind of funny .. that a team that would have to fly 600 miles ... would be there for the game. And one that's eight miles away... can't make it.

Duke obviously didn't want to play in front of 20,000 students.

SU vs. Duke on 22nd. @LukeDeCock Duke-Carolina officially rescheduled for Feb. 20. ACC & teams pass on back-to-back to end season.

Oh Law, ESPN must be messin' in their pants, they've been hyping this game all day! "Best college rivalry by far," they say. . . Coachman, Greenberg, and Jay Will. Too bad they'll be "forced" to watch some good hard basketball by two top ACC teams -- oh, wait, that would be SU-Pitt, the Forgotten Ones. Enjoy the game!-VBOF

Duke ain't in Chapel Hill yet, and the RDU area right now is looking like Atlanta did the other week.

And yes, I'm aware this is a Syracuse board. Just thought I'd let you all know in case anyone had planned on watching the game after the Syracuse game tonight.
Oh, were Duke & UNC supposed to play tonight?

Makeup date announced: UNC-Duke will play on Feb 20.
That's great news. Just two days before Duke has to play us. In that other thread, I proposed they resked for 2/21. This is almost as good.

According to a poster on the Duke board, Duke didn't show up tonight because the roads were bad, because UNC cheated...

"kind of ironic. maybe if the tarholes didnt cheat so much maybe the state and local govts could have cleared the roads better."

Ummm...

duke has absolutely no excuse to miss this game. plans could easily have been made. should be a forfeit imo. somebody please text K and tell him it's a loss if he's not there in 30 minutes and guaranteed he'll be there in 20!

Even if they got there before the snow/ice today, they still need to find their way home after the game.

While UNC's home stadium is about as rowdy as a morgue for many games, the Duke game is always an exception. Even the blue hairs who own just about all of the lower level at the Dean Dome get loud for that one game a year. But yes, it would be ridiculous with 18,000 students packing the stadium. Agree that this weather stuff is smoke and mirrors. Saw that even Duke's radio crew was able to make it to the game. Everyone but K and the team.

So ESPN is in its 22nd minute of their 6 o'clock broadcast and all they can talk about is a game that won't happen. What about the HUGE game between #1 and #25 that will be played in less than 40 mins where the #1 is the dog?
