I heard Coach Mack on the news last night stating the clusters of covid occurring on campus wouldn't effect the football program. I guess he was wrong.No-show classes, now no-show athletics.
UNC leading the way into the virtual future.
It is bonkers that students can't attend classes yet football practices continue.Wonder if its just Covid, or if backlash is playing a role?
Football on an empty campus? UNC sends clear message that student-athletes don’t exist
UNC’s plan to still play football with an empty campus shows it feels athletes are employees, not students.amp.newsobserver.com
Who would have thought North Carolina would end up acting like East Carolina? Has Mack gone completely senile? It is bonkers that students can't attend classes yet football practices continue.
I agree. However I do not see the nfl setting up a minor league system like all other major league sports. Why when the colleges do it for them at no cost.Cancel the season, this is just getting stupid. Players will move on to the pros and university’s will have to stop wearing their asses as hats in regards to spending.
XFL baby. Can you smell what the Rock is cookin???I agree. However I do not see the nfl setting up a minor league system like all other major league sports. Why when the colleges do it for them at no cost.
I'm one of the people that has taken the virus very seriously, but I think there is a way that athletes could play. If all athletes maintained a bubble at their schools, with virtual learning and no contact with other students, and all competitors did the same, I can see it being possible. Do I think it's realistic or that we'll see it happen? No.
Agreed. The only way it would possibly work would be to explain that this is the only way we're gonna have a chance to play. If you choose to leave the bubble, you choose not to play. It would be a sacrifice. The NBA and NHL have shown strict bubbles work. But i dont see any chance college kids, especially ones that are governed not by a single commissioner but by their schools, universally conforming.

But the "flattening" is at such a high level it can be better described as a "plateau".nah, football practices are spread out on an open field. Kids want to attend practice. The other is like an extended snow day.
But really, it's not any more bonkers than walmart workers heading to work while hair salons, car dealerships, banks, flower shops, landscapers and everything else was closed. Here we are on Aug20 and we still have businesses closed. We flattened the curve 4 months ago.

What about going to classes?
