Why the heck didn't we have an orange top combination when new uniforms were modeled. I don't get Gross for not making that his number 1 priority when talking with Nike about the new uniforms.

Miami had 4 combinations made so Nike could have done the same for Syracuse.

But you can appreciate that the kids we're trying to recruit don't care what McNabb wore, right? And that they want to wear what they consider "hip"?

I'm agnostic to the uniforms -- but exceedingly interested in the mindset of the people who care so much.

It's our brand, at least to the fans. You don't see elite teams changing their uniforms every year. You don't see it with USC, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, etc. Sure, Notre Dame has always played around with their uniform colors and combinations, and yes, Oregon and the endless Nike money of Phil Knight has changed things a bit. I am a fan of having the same uniforms from year to year. I like seeing the NY Giants wearing their blue uniforms. I like Yankee pinstripes. The St. Louis Cardinals have a very classic baseball jersey, as do the Dodgers and even (gasp!) the Red Sox. I like the NY Rangers' blue jerseys. I think most fans feel this way about their team.

only 109. I think I know the words.

re: uniforms. I think they look great from about 10 feet. The problem as I mentioned earlier is that the number are impossbile to read from anything past 100 feet. The font while cool from a few feet makes it awfully difficult to discern the numbers from up in the 300's.

Nothing will ever be 100%, but if we had an Orange uniform combination that looked like the one Full Rebar linked from Illinois I would never bring Uniforms up again. All I want is an Orange uniforms as part of the rotation for the Syracuse ORANGE.

Orange pants please. Blue top for home, white for away, gray for a one off. Orange tops aren't the SU norm either. It's the helmet and pants. I think that's what is being hoped for by those who don't like the all blue.

All Orange is hideous, IMO, and we have generally lost when we play in all orange football uniforms. It's like Kryptonite, just like the blue uniforms to the basketball team.

SU went from "Orangemen" to "Orange" under Crouthamel, not Gross. And while Gross did hire GRob, he did also hire Marrone, who picked SU up and out of the GRob era. He obviously also hired Shafer, upon whom you are pinning your hopes.

Would like to see all white for the CMU game.

We have to wear white tops unless CMU and SU agreed preseason to wear alternate colors. So you'll get that. So it'll be either white or blue pants and I assume they'll use white even though orange would be the proper choice. I just hope we don't try to emulate penn st with all white including helmets.

Report: Florida State to make changes to helmet, uniforms

In addition, the numbers on white jerseys were gold, and very difficult to see on TV and from any appreciable distance in person. The gold numbers will be removed before seasons end and switched out for garnet.

I guess Nike isn't infallible after all.
