University of Maryland launched extensive PR campaign to change impressions about Big Ten move

If MD made the move without an assurance of a big financial windfall, then it was a bad move.

MD should be in the ACC.

There can't be any ironclad "assurance". The B1G's mid-to-long term revenue growth is largely dependent on the Big Ten Network. If they (a) can't get the coverage they anticipate in the northeast corridor and (b) the existing cable TV business model erodes... Well, they ain't gonna come close to those unicorn-and-rainbow projections they've been selling.

I just thank my lucky stars that Virginia is not having to go through this crap. The Big Ten is a Midwestern Conference. Eastern Schools don't belong in it including Penn State, and they won't have a positive experience in it. All you have to do is ask Penn State fans to confirm this. Maryland can jump off a bridge at this point as far as I'm concerned. Just pay the exit fee and leave.

Maryland not only screwed their fan base, but they screwed PSU by telling Delany that the ACC was targeting PSU. Penn State would have been #16, no doubt in my mind, especially with ND on board.
