Are we truly desperate? Nope. if we were the government would be opening up everthing for fracking & drilling without a vote. Just buy a more efficient vehicle and 20-40 years from now we'll all be happier we have some resources left. By then our energy will be worth 10x more. The gov will take the land and frack everything when were truly desperate. until big oil lists the ingredients of their fracking juice I say em. I'm a republican and I've seen enough proof that fracking causes problems to drinking water and increases cancer hot zones.

So until we fix the welfare state and everything about big government waste I say it. If we stopped paying for lazy scumbags we could afford expensive energy.

I actually own land that could be drilled if the State passes it, it's not near my house so it would not impact me. I must admit, I am actually torn on the whole deal. I have actually done a lot of reading on the issue and obviously somewhere in the middle of it lies the truth.

My partner and I bought it with the intent of cutting some of the hardwood, hunting, he's building a hunting cabin on it and me building mountain bike trails on it but I figured drilling the out of it is probably the same thing... . I may wind up divorced if I do ever sell the rights, it's a nice security blanket but I will most likely not allow anyone to drill the property. I have seen the operation, the people etc and there is definitely some impact and definitely some real risk to serious damage regardless of what anyone says.

Yes, I have worked for these companies and they do improve the economy but at what cost?

Yeah, formerly living in the area I would love for it to be revitalized, but not like this. Also, it'll be really cool when the resource dries up and the area gets left used and abused like Eastern Kentucky and WVA have been.

The actual material used to frack isn't dangerous, which is what all these people are citing because that's what they're told is the truth. It's the improper disposal of waste, poor maintenance of sites, and other they runs off into water supplies and everything up.

The more dangerous part is the fact that fracking causes earthquakes, which is basically the Earth saying: "HEY BUDDY YOU WANT TO CUT THE ING OUT? NO PATIENCE FOR THIS !"

Going by EPA testing. Again, it IS proven the runoff and the waste is harmful as and usually not disposed of correctly.

C'mon man, surely you can't be that naive? There is nothing proven about the chemicals in the fracking process not being the problem. It's not only a disposal problem.
