With all due respect (OK. A lollipop for Frank Beamer), why is Virginia Tech ranked, with three of its 2019 wins against Old Dominion, Furman and Rhode Island? Add another against Georgia Tech. Plus they were taken to the woodshed by Duke. And a Bowl loss to boot.

If Diaz can coach at all, they’ll be back... Miami is crushing it in recruiting. Basically locked down South Florida.

Yeah, I'm not sure how/why Virginia Tech became one of the darlings of college football. They had two glorious years with Vick and were good for quite a while after that. But they built a lot of good records by beating bad teams and were never really impressive in bowl games.

Edit: Ok, I looked at a bunch of their schedules. They seemed pretty decent. Their success seemed pretty close during their peak to what ours was from the '87 through the '90's.

Miami and Virginia Tech are chronically overrated programs. It is ridiculous how much respect these programs get given how little they have accomplished in recent years. There are a lot of stupid people out there.

Add USC to that. Every year, USC is "stacked" - and they end up going 7-5 in the PAC 12

They at least won national championships this century. Virginia Tech is treated like they were annual contenders just waiting to get back on top.
