USC and UCLA to the Big Ten

If I’m the ACC and politics gums up Washington and Oregon to the big….I invite Zona-ASU, Oregon-OSU, Wash-wazzou maybe even Cal-Stanford. Go big. Get as big as humanly possible. ESPN will give you more money than currently.

Do whatever you can do to be clear cut #3.
You aren't thinking big enough go to 48, and 6 divisions of 8.
You already have 44 in the 3 leagues.
Just need to add 4 more. I already said Boise St, San Diego St, USF, and Memphis.

NY, Boston, Pittsburgh. #1, #9 and #23 tv markets. SU, BC, Pitt.

i think you are low on the amount of money, going to have to at least double that unless a ton of teams get chairs at the same time
Agreed at 50 million a year and 10 years . 500 million for 1 team. Trust me the league and every school would sue the team and ESPN

Plus SU is a National Brand. SU with SEC money can get back to a solid mid level school in any league. In basketball they can win it

We didn’t tell the conference that one of our teams was too good for the conference. You do understand that right?
Notre Dame IS too good for the ACC in football!

Just heard some wild speculation down here in Georgia that if the B1G attempts to become a national super league, the SEC could look at expanding based on region expansion rather than football quality and/or cultural fit.

Meaning that west coast teams and NE teams like Syracuse could be brought in for regional exposure purposes.

I put that idea at about 5% chance of happening, but if the B1G expands by adding more PAC teams and then poaches southern ACC teams, I could see the SEC being worried about being a regional league vs the B1G’s national league.
Nothing is wild after the BT has added SC and UCLA.

The BT is now truly national: from NJ to Los Angeles. The SEC is now just Southern (though many consider MO to be midwestern). If the SEC were to absorb the ACC, the SEC would also be in the northeast. If the SEC were to add BYU, it would have the largest football and basketball fan bases in the entire Rockies region.

Once Oregon starts losing recruits and coaches to lessor B1G programs they will leave Oregon State behind.

Lets say 4 teams jump at the same time. Does that change anything? What if half jump? Same deal?

I only ask because it would seem to need to happen ASAP. Say Clemson was forced to stay or pay 500 million to stay in a lower conference. The brand damage would be massive- and permanent. I dont see how this doesnt get lawyered up and settlements are reached.

Why would ESPN want to pay the same rate for a G5 conference when the deal was for a power conference? Can one argue that the terms of the deals are no lomger the same?

Not buying it. What are the TV #'s for those games in those Markets? Noone cares about college sports in Boston. (Save a little love for Hockey)

I kind of think a 48 team mega league is a little too large. Its mega because 17 teams are dropped? With 36? You'll still have a few soup cans in there, and you can still schedule a couple easy wins against lower conferences.

Everyone outside of ND is waiting for a Big 10 or SEC invite.

I think the only way to create a realistic top-tier conference is to have the best of the remaining join up. Have to think differently and not be tied down by old arrangements.

Go to 16 and divide east/west. It won't make as much as the Big 10 and SEC but would do enough to stay in the top-tier game.

West
1. UW
2. Oregon
3. Cal
4. Stanford
5. Arizona
6. Colorado
7. Utah
8. Kansas or Arizona State. I go Kansas if you are going markets. No time to double up.

East
1. Clemson
2. Miami
3. FSU
4. GaTech
5. UNC
6. UVA
7. Cuse
8. BC

Could easily argue NC State, VPI, and/or Pitt over Cuse and BC but again no time to double up on markets.

I don't know bylaws, but this would be the majority of ACC and Pac 10 teams to disband the conference and negotiate new tv deals? (No idea how that would work.)

No way ND would join this new conference which means they are independent. Which means they go to the Big 10, which means the Big 10 adds more which blows this all up. Let's just hope Syracuse is part of more.

no one knows how large the mega leagues will go, the fact that oregon and washington were asked to wait for a ND decision means 2 things, ND is thinking about it and b there is likely only 1 spot available at this time if ND says yes

The ACC needs to add TVs. Think major cities and go West.

There is going to be a 12 team playoff which means ND will stay independent.

Yeah I didn't really know what to make of that waiting on ND comment. Could be good if ND goes and we can have a bi coastal league.

Agreed about no one knows. I don't think it is necessarily likely there is only one more spot though. There are still some valuable schools left on the board.

Seems like the Big 10 and SEC could stop anywhere between 32 (current) and 64 (almost everybody is invited).

If they stop at say 36 (each conference adds 2), I think there is enough remaining to add a 3rd conference of the next best 18. If they push to 48 or higher, I think it kills even the potential of a 3rd conference.

I say go big, add western division Arizona, ASU, Cali, Utah , Oregon, take Kansas for hoops and then kick ND out. Force them to join the Big. Take in West Virginia and Cincinnati. Add Houston and Boise state. You end up 3rd best in football and #1 for Basketball.

Don't force them out. We want their money.

that seems about right and I think if 48 ends up being the number I think we are just ok to sneak in,
