USC and UCLA to the Big Ten

Schools will be getting double to quadruple what they currently make. Travel will be a drop in the bucket.
That was the point I was making. Sorry if it was unclear.
USC/UCLA going from $30M to $90M makes up for the travel headache. An ACC school going from $30M to $40M isn't worth the headache. Travel costs would cut into that significantly.
That’s why you create a whole western division, to reduce travel costs.

The ACC needs to lock down the northeast, stop any potential for further incursions by the B1G or even the Big12. If ND decides to become a member at least until the GOR diminishes, that is 15 programs. Add UCONN, UMASS and Temple and create 3, 6 team divisions. Have a base payout plus performance enhancement. By adding the teams suggested, it would greatly weaken the B1G's eastern teams, PSU, RU and Maryland's hold on that region and its recruiting. It would also have an added benefit of taking one of the BigEAST's best programs and putting the ACC in Philly with Temple which also hurts there hold there with Villanova.

Stop. Umass and Temple add nothing to the ACC. UConn has been rejected a number of times. They are weaker now than when they were rejected. Adding those schools just rearranges the chairs on a sinking ship. Oh, and adding those schools doesn't hurt the Big Ten eastern schools at all.

Should only consider adding West Virginia and Cincinnati because they have good football team. If Notre Dame is willing to move football to ACC, then add Navy to pair with them.
UMass, UConn and Temple are too weak.

Pay them on a graduated scale. Playing games in Philadelphia would help ACC teams recruiting in the South Jersey, Eastern Pa area which is a huge recruiting hotbed. If the ACC waits until the B1G or the Big12 make a move, it will be too late. The B1G wants to own everything.

This is a decent play for the B12, one that’s more about survival than strength. They’re adding Denver and Phoenix, so that’s big. Doubling down on SLC and Phoenix doesn’t help them, though. They’re just catering to new members (Utah and Zona) by letting them bring their buddies along.

So maybe this gives the B12 some stability for awhile. Overall, it will be a watered-down league with little to offer the SEC and B1G.

One thing I’ll add. This move will be a death knell for Oregon State and WSU, perhaps Cal.

OSU and WSU will fit in the MWC and they will add Gonzaga for basketball and olympics as UH is only in for football. The MWC will be in a tight and unified region and will probably do quite well. Hard to see Cal in the MWC.

Alsacs came back to get fired up again just to leave angry...over reallignment. Dude, it's not THAT important to take your ball and go home. You're well read, articulate and a great poster. There are also other well read , articulate and great posters who have different opinions. Some people even dip their toes into inside information which I find interesting as well.

I don't get why you get soooo personal about ND. I LOVE ND. I've been a ND fan forever and respect that they do what they do. Their decisionmaking is about ND. Syracuse's is the same way. We happened to destroy a major conference too because of money. We can't look at everything so narrow minded. ND is why college football is so great IMO. It survives and flourishes because nationally everyone either LOVES them or HATES them.

let's see how it plays out. I think politics will have a say in the final destruction of regional football, I think the networks will want Syracuses and Dukes to survive in some fashion and I think the consumer will demand some sort of national product vs the NWO/WWF-ization of college football.
I think you’re a great poster and I frequently agree with your takes.

You’ve got to be the only (or one of the very few) non-baketball only’s who love ND on this board.

And that’s the only topic we see differently. I think your love of ND may prevent you from seeing their hypocrisy that others (myself included) have pointed out in the past.

I don’t mind their posters as nothing they’ve said is factually inaccurate.

Just wish they’d call a spade a spade.

You were clear, just supporting your statement.

There are still too many games outside of your region. A Western division of 6 teams means they have to travel cross country 2x for football and worse for other sports.

This is just movement for the sake of movement and it honestly doesn't even matter. If you aren't in the SEC or BIG 10 you are minor league. It's going to 2 conferences. BIG 10 and SEC want nothing to do with the ACC, BIG 12 or PAC 12. The split is happening.

Big 12 making a final play to stay relevant. Has zero % chance of working. Even if you steal 6 PAC 12 schools, once the Big 10 or SEC comes calling for any of them (or any current Big 12 school) they will still jump.

All this does is kill the ACC quicker and make the Big 12 the solid #3 conference after the SEC and Big 10 split away.

I am completely a hypocrite and realize I have Irish colored glasses on. I'm just saying they operate from a position of strength and self interest. I'm a Syracuse grad, grew up in Boston as an Eagle fan and have family who are Irish grads.

I think if Syracuse was in their position they wouldn't have done anything differently so far. ND has an identity and they do everything to retain that identity. They see themselves as college football royalty that doesn't need a conference to support it.

I think ultimately they will get what they want because their brand is on par with the Cowboys, Coca Cola, Apple and Ford. It's an iconic brand that people will allows gravitate to.

The other two schools have to be Oregon and Washington, which shows how little interest the B1G has in adding them right now.

I think this sets up an interesting situation with ND and the B1G. I think the B1G tells ND to join with Stanford, otherwise they’re adding both Bay Area schools.

There aren't even 6 schools from the P12 worth taking. Washington, Oregon, Stanford, Arizona, Colorado add value. After that it is just mouths to feed.

But it puts them in a solid #3 spot with this move. Hurts the ACC. That's what it is. They are trying to be the solid #3 conference overall (#1 conference in the NCAA after the BIG10/SEC leave the NCAA.)

Plus all of these schools moving is nice, but it literally means nothing. Arizona moves to the Big 12, great, IF the Big 10 eventually calls they will just jump to the Big 10. Money is too great and need to be in one of the 2 conferences that matter.
