USC Fires Clay Helton

Things have gotten so crazy in CFB. At some point I think you see a HC leave midseason for another job to get a head start. Penn State has no shot at winning the B1G East. If Franklin really wants the USC job why not go there now? You get to evaluate the current players and can recruit right away. It is a scum move but it makes sense. It also kinda helps Penn State get out and look for his replacement earlier.

I definitely see this happening because the advantage just in being able to start recruiting is massive. Waiting to maybe weeks before signing day to even start your class at your new job is a huge disadvantage.

With early signing day it is a bigger deal. Accepting a new job the week before gives you no time.

Franklin has a contract, so if he bolts without PSU’s agreement they would move in court to prevent him from performing any activities for another school. I’m highly skeptical PSU would go along.

I wasn’t implying this would happen with Franklin In particular. The implication is when bigger schools are “poaching” coaches from smaller/cheaper schools and the financial implication isn’t a burden to the new school/coach.
