I love JK made him the #2 and rewarded Guzan for playing this summer. I think each will start 1 game or each play 1 half of each game versus Peru/Brazil

Have a feeling Timmy Ho will be the keeper against El Tri, but yes I think they both get a game.

Aaron Johansen getting the start today for Werder Bremen. Good sign.

Roster should be announced sometime today. By looking at social media Howard, Cameron, and Jones appear to be on the list.

Per USA Soccer..

GK: Guzan, Howard, Yarbrough
Def: Alvarado, Besler, Brooks, Cameron, Garza, Gonzales, Orozco, Ream
Mid: Bedoya, Corona, Diskerud, Jones, Morales, Williams, Yedlin
: Altidore, Johansson, Wood, Wooten, Zardes

Jones in MF is interesting. He has been playing CB for NE Revolution. No Dempsey and Bradley sucks. I bet they play in the Brazil match. I hate the MLS calender it really sucks compared to the rest of the world.

Hoping we see Cameron, Besler, and Gonzales on defense. Not sure who we play at the outside back spot opposite Cameron..

Will be interesting to see how the midfield shakes out.

DeAndre Yedlin is getting loaned Sunderland. Hopefully he gets first team PT and can help keep Sunderland in EPL.

If he is healthy he can play. I still remember the world class cross he has in 2009 against Egypt in the Confederations Cup that got us the 3rd goal to advance.

Never watched him play, or if I did I don't remember. Spector at RB? Cameron at CB?

He played RB in 2009/2010 for USMNT no idea where Klinsmann will want him but I bet RB.

US - Mex tix go on presale tomorrow morning. Anyone gonna try their luck?

I am in the lottery by being a member of Outlaws. If I win I just sell them to a USA fan as I can't make it out to LA. Mexico is going to get 30% and the USA is getting 30%. 20% in the lottery and 10% to sponsors.

This would be so awesome..

Tickets were surprisingly easy to get. Everything from the $49 tix to the $600+ were available just now. I picked up 4. Gonna be awesome.

Wish I could justify the price of the flight from Syracuse..

BTW, for all the hand-wringing in the media about our dismal performance in the Gold cup, the Gold cup is essentially useless.

The sole purpose in winning it is to get to play in the Confederations Cup. In fact, when the confed cup was not on the line, we would send our B, or even our C, team to play in the Gold Cup.

My opinion is that Klinsmann knows he has a lot of young, raw, inexperienced talent and he needs to figure out who his guys are going to be in 18 - which is really the only thing that matters. Figuring that out is his one, and only, goal.

Winning comes a distant second.

To be fair, Klinsmann has had an unsettled roster ever since he got the job. He keeps tinkering and tinkering with his back line, when he should settle on someone and let them develop chemistry together. I get it with the 2 young guys and their athleticism, but they were poor at the Gold Cup and Besler and Gonzalez would have been a much better choice.

Money is the main reason IMO. US athletes can't make as much money playing soccer in the USA than they can playing in Europe. US top athletes would need to move overseas and live in Europe if they want to make the most money. If MLS became a top 5 league it would help the sport in the USA.
Also, the academies in Europe get kids when they are young and they go to school and train with their team. All we need is a few Landon Donovan, Clint Dempsey, Jozy Altidore's to develop.

That's why the last collective bargaining agreement was disappointing. MLS got a 5X increase in TV fees, but salaries for most non-designated players are only $60-80,000 a year. It's like playing in AAA baseball, or maybe a bit better, but not much.

Yeah, I don't get the whole Besler thing. I thought he played very well in Brazil. Not sure what Klinsmann is looking for.

I agree that Besler needs to be one of the two central defenders.

Well, what he sees is the youth and athleticism of the two young guys, Brooks and Alvarado, and that they are both pretty good with the ball at their feet. Where Brooks, in particular, is lacking is his reading of the game defensively. He lets his man get inside him or turn him far too easily. Alvarado is better, but is still so young. The other guys are more dependable at this point defensively, but Klinsmann is playing for 3 years from now, and even 7 years from now.

His thinking is, "If I let these guys work through their problems and we come out the other side successfully, I've got a center back pairing for the next 2 World Cup cycles. And frankly, if he gets enough talented young players into the program, two World Cup cycles from now, we could be pretty good. We're not going to be good enough to do any damage next time, because the older generation is aging out and the young guys are not on that level yet. In 2022, we could be a Round of 8 kind of team.

We could have been a round of 8 team if Jurgy didn't let his ego get in the way in 2014 w/ Landycakes.

I thought we could have made in the Semifinals in 2010 if we beat Ghana, but in 2014 with our group I thought round of 16 was good.
Klinsmann definitely has some problems getting the team to buy into his formations, but he is increasing our talent pool IMO. This playoff match vs. Mexico is really huge for him. He said Guzan is going to be #1 GK I don't know if I like that but he is rewarding Guzan for playing the Gold Cup. Guzan did have a clean sheet in Mexico City in 2013 so that could be it but Howard did win in Azteca in a 2012 Friendly.

Yea definitely seemed a bit premature to announce that ahead of both of these friendlies.
