Hes terrible but if the US had anyone who could score besides Pulisic it wouldn't have mattered. Bradley, Altidore, Nagbe are zero threat and Dempsey only played a half for some unknown reason

Can't wait until they justify keeping Arena. The talent for US Soccer is at the U21, U19, and U17 levels as well as breaking through in Europe but Arena will just keep recycling washed up MLS players until we miss another WC. This is a horrible day for US Soccer.

"Own Goal" Gonzales
Did anyone else notice that Altidore stopped playing and was throwing a tantrum while T&T went the other way to score their second goal? Talk about not being ready to play. This was the one game where Bruce should have started Dempsey simply for his leadership and grit. Nagbe played like he was drunk the whole game.

As soon as the US was trailing at half this was inevitable, costa rica and mexico were more then happy to concede. Saw this coming a mile away

US Soccer has no passion or respect for anyone but Mexico.
We should hate Costa Rica now.
It’s a joke how undisciplined our midfield is.

Or if you're going to pluck players from it to use, go get some young dynamic athletes like Tyler Adams and Kellyn Acosta and let them run at people and play a fun style. We can fault Jurgen for a lot of things, but he would've found a way to open this game up and play a more entertaining and fluid game...and he never truly got to have a card like Pulisic in his hand.

Arena failed big time.
Klinsmann was an ahole but he had a plan.

3 or 4 Americans will watch the group round now...once it gets to elimination rounds, it will be on at 10am and no one will care.

It's basically like if Syracuse was playing in the Ivy League for basketball and the top 4 teams were automatically invited to the NCAA Tournament and we lost to Dartmouth on the last day of the season to finish us off.

The US was never winning this WC and this miss isn’t about that.
It’s about growing the brand.
Not making the WC kills momentum.
The US Soccer infrastructure needs to be blown up now.
The salary cap and calendar makes the league small potatoes.
Get on the World calendar and get rid of the salary cap.

Sorry, but you know absolutely nothing about the MLS if you think that and that's the problem with soccer fandom in America...
Toronto is the best MLS team. They wouldn’t win the Championship division in England.
It’s not a world class league.
Pirlo, Villa, Lampard, Kaka,Gerrard, Cole use the MLS as a retirement league.
The MLS plays off the world calendar. No MLS squad can win the CONCACAF champions league.
Our players coming back to the MLS over playing in Europe hurts US soccer.
Plus MLS is helping these CONCACAF teams get talent developed.

Trying to think of some names for replacements for Arena and it's impossible to know what our budget will be but I have to imagine that will hold us back.
David Wagner would be a nice get depending on how long Huddersfield stays up. Have to think that if they're relegated this year he'd listen. A guy like Roberto Martinez would come in with instant credibility and a system. And then you have a slew of young coaches doing well in the MLS who I think can truly coach. Picking based on system alone, I'd love to see a Jesse Marsch come in with his high press and get after these less talented teams instead of allowing them to control possession against us. The whole setup needs and overhaul, though.
