Hahaha. You’re so right. I learned to count because the analytic side of me couldn’t stand not having a slight edge when the math is right. And you’re right, it’s not fun. I’m exhausted after a session between keeping the count, betting correctly based on said count, basic strategy deviations, and managing distractions like waitresses, talkative dealers, etc.

My biggest pet peeve all time are people that think how others play affects the outcome. It’s a random distribution. Play however you’d like. It doesn’t affect my chance of winning. Your choices could just as easily help the dealer vs. hurt the dealer. I know very smart people who are so naive on this simple mathematical concept it drives me insane.

I like playing alone at times. It’s fun when you’re winning but if you’re not the money goes quick.

I usually don’t win because I like just sitting and playing for 4-5 hours and at some point the advantage goes to the house. But I really enjoy when you have good dealers and knowledgeable fun players. Last night everyone who sat down knew what they were doing or asked for advice. That generally makes for a good time.

I can get a little aggressive with doubles and splits. Splits usually at $10-15 tables when i’m playing alone and just want to have some fun.

One of my friends makes fun of people when they do really stupid things. My father used to yell. But sometimes you really can see they way people screw things up. I realize it’s irrational but I have so many stories of one idiot messing up things for everyone because they didn’t do what they were supposed to. Though you probably don’t remember all the times someone saved the table by being dumb.

This. 1,000%. It’s a psychological phenomenon. People remember and call out when you “take the dealers bust card”. But, they never seem to call out when 3rd bases supposedly stupid play actually helped the table. And guess what? They happen equally as often!

Where I really have to bite my tongue is when I get a high count or very low count and need to deviate from basic strategy while sitting at 3rd base. People are always groaning under their breath thinking I’m an idiot. I want to yell out “do you have any idea how freaking high this count is you idiot!!” Hahahaha.

Last weekend I had a cute little old lady whisper to me “just so you know, never take insurance”. Of course this is not true if your count is high enough. I just smiled back and said thanks.

Lol. In the 80 year history of the NCAA UVA hasn’t even made a championship game. I’ll amend the bet to pay Skurey $20 on the day UVA wins one, if he agrees to come back every single year after they lose or don’t make the tourney and post “I was wrong, UVA can’t win a National Championship!”
