Worst defensive half since St. John's.

Going to be difficult to pull this one out with this deficit because UVa is not struggling one bit against our defense and I don't see many adjustments.

Need to force turnovers!

He's the one we can't handle. Perrantes is hitting from outside, but if they didn't hit 8 straight shots, we'd be in a good place.

Where's that zone thread? Halves like this are why this archaic one dimensional defensive philosophy is tired.

Maybe they cool off in the second half and we come back but no reason for a weak af offensive team like Virginia to go all GS Warriors on us for 10 minutes and we just sit back and take it.

I think Virginia played very well in the first half. So don't think halftime should be 100% blaming our team for losing. We can certainly do things better though..

He's a high character kid and by all accounts a good person, but he's simply a terrible college basketball center at this level.

I think we'll move to a defense that can slow them down a little bit.

They'll make those all day tho. They're wide open. We have to give up something and I would rather give up 3s than Dunks

I'm surprised we got to 29. Gill is very good, skilled, crafty, and physical. Like the worst possible combo vs our interior. Sigh. Hopefully we can go on a run and Perrantes will cool down.

That, or our defense was just flat or something. Hopefully JB will use his hall of fame genius and make some adjustments to our zone for the second half. If VA goes on a run this game could get out of hand quickly.

points in paint 20 to 10 the difference it opened up to gamble on a couple of their threes.
Having Roberson with 2 at 5 to go didn't help.

Would be nice to slow them down a bit though, or get some buckets earlier in the shotclock to lay some pressure.

JB usually changes the zone up at the half. I won't be surprised of we shut them down a bit. Then we just have to get some good shots. VA looks good, though.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Our zone can only concentrate on defending one thing. They certainly have to come out an play. But it did not seem like any point so far in this game where our team felt like it was dominating.

Yeah. Maybe the wings will move towards the shooters and open the middle even more for easy dunks.

This is the exact reason you don't use one exclusive defense.

Players are far too fast and athletic nowadays to give them too much open space on a basketball court.
