Virginia Gameday...

A "letter" from from one of our most important lacrosse posters on our board to you.

Every year in spring there is one event circled: Virginia vs. Syracuse. Much like a wedding for a friend or a traditional event for a family, there are no set asides. It’s a must.

Quite simply, today I am thankful for Syracuse lacrosse. This rivalry is a precious gift; every year it gives us all something special.

So thank you, Cuse. Thank you for never stalling the ball, for never bailing out to play soft & for always playing fast. Thank you for the Home Sweet Dome T-shirts. Thank you for the tailgate Long Island deli spreads. Thank you to the Orange faithful clutching their Alfies {I think he means Ottos?} which their fathers gave them, just as they have for their sons, to carry a faith in good luck. Thank you for honoring Native Americans, for always including the Six Nations as a part of your program. Thank you for playing the game the right way, for your integrity, your respect & your impeccable sportsmanship as a program. Thank you for being great: it is great to have a great rival.

My orange & blue is Virginia, but I will always be grateful for The Cuse.

This is the best game in all of lacrosse, so thank you for the run today.

Great post. Agreed. An opponent this worthy is a gift.
Some programs are easy to dislike (Domers, Dookies, etc.) But you can't hate the Orange. They carry the flame like Virginia does. Yes, a blessed match-up every year, with an awesome history to it. Thankful for it.

Well over 90% of our fans would agree with them. I guess we need to thank UNC for not being able to play you in 1995, so you switched over to us. Today, regardless of the outcome, represents how the game is supposed to be played.

Throw the records out the window, this is Syracuse-Virginia. Lars will have them ready to begin conference play & change the narrative of their season. I think we get UVA’s best effort of the year & expect a physical, high scoring, 1-2 goal ‘Cuse win.

Yup this is where I am on today. This is a very tough game especially at UVA.

Alfies refer to traditional wooden sticks made on the Onondaga Nation by the stick maker, Alfie Jacques. Alfie passed a couple years ago but his legacy lives on in his masterpieces.

Is there some reason why the ACC network would show women’s lacrosse instead of this game?

Funny that we have the 2 best options for Faceoff on the bench, just a clear selfish motive for Gait Lacrosse
