Hold your helmet in your left hand, right hand on heart, head up…inevitably someone would screw up just enough to get yelled at the first time. When he retired he was in the top 20 in all time wins in NYS; I think he had 4-5 undefeated teams.

Occasionally coaches succeed without being excessively detail oriented - but they are the exception and not the rule. Based on how this year went and the lack of discipline over the past two years, I wouldn’t give the staff the benefit of the doubt on anything. Totally agree that the coaches shouldn’t have to point out uniform requirements to the players - but my high school coach made it such an obvious point that screwing up on details wasn’t acceptable that nobody did. Ever.

I think we have made improvement. It is worth celebrating.

Well said and I’d like to point out that the refs shouldn’t have to tell our players on a constant basis to tuck their shirts in.Why is it that our players can’t understand that the rule is you must tuck your shirts in?Ive seen some of our players look at the refs like they’re crazy for making them do it.

That might be the only rule the refs get right on a consistent basis but every once in awhile they miss an untucked T. But lets be real, who cares if there shirts are in or out? Maybe Nike needs to make longer shirts.

That's VA's problem not caring. Yes, we played a great game we deserve to celebrate.

Most posters hate the (sub-)mediocrity, not the players and coaches... especially those of us who have worked with student athletes and their coaches. You don't need to be a groupie just to be a fan.

And you shouldn't be worried; I'm sure everyone that you're buddies with will prove themselves just as worthy of access to Red's successor. You don't need to stress about this and call people haters for at least another few months. You have your desired reprieve. Enjoy it.

There are very few Autry haters here. Most people go wayyyyyy out of their way to preface their critiques with how he was one of their favorite players, a great guy, etc.

And this whole “they’ve really improved the past 5 games” is kinda silly. Who cares? I’m not even saying that sarcastically. It just doesn’t matter.

It’s possible that all of 2 guys return from this roster. Plus, they’re 2-3 in the last 5 games. So much improvement that they won 40% of their games.

I already posted that I really enjoyed last night's game. And yes we have played better lately, but as Scooch has already pointed out, it only resulted in two wins. Most people have higher standards than that for the program. But in honor of that achievement, I have designed a little trophy.

It’s all moot , Red will be here next year , if the Ws don’t return he will be gone. Dcuse and I went to the game last night, we’re both guys that started supporting the program in the early 70s. You would be hard pressed to find anyone anymore disappointed to not be in the dance then Dcuse or I . We both believe the comments about Coach Autry go too far. That’s probably where we differ.

How is saying Red is over his head and should be fired "going too far"?

Not one person on this board has taken personal shots at Red. Not one. Every single comment is a fair critique. The players aren't listening, he doesn't know how to coach defense, and he's struggled immensely in the transfer portal. Will any of that change next year? If not, we're delaying the inevitable. It's a waste of another season, another season as we fade into obscurity.

Sorry I can't get excited about the team "looking better in the last 5 games" as we've played all bottom half ACC teams with the exception of SMU, against whom we blew an enormous lead. The league is so poor and we finished 14th.

Apparently this includes any criticism whatsoever, and that's just not realistic or productive.

Many posters have noticed that Dcuse gets treated much, much better on this site than he deserves. He spews toxicity while complaining about how badly Red is treated; it's pretty hilarious for those that have been watching.
